ANB 56, love brings knowledge Hello everyone, let me give you some revelation from the Word that I received just last night. I imagine we'll discuss the 'be perfect' series again, but we'll just have to wait on God and see His timing. Philippians 1:9-10 (King James Version) 9And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. One fascinating thing to do when studying God's Word is to use a concordance and look up certain Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) Words to see the passage's meaning in the original languages. Three very interesting words appear in this passage. The first word I would like to discuss is 'love'. In the New Testament there are several different words used for 'love.' This is the word 'agape' which I would refer to as the God kind of love. This is the kind of love God has for us and that God expects us to have for each other. I believe the best way to describe it is by saying agape love is love detached from one's emotions. This love is unconditional. This love isn't based on what another person does or says. this is unending, unfailing love. Read 1 Corinthians 13, this is the same word used for 'love' or 'charity' in that passage. That will give you the best description of that kind of love. Now let's talk about the word 'knowledge.' In the New Testament there are two words used largely for 'knowledge,' 'gnosis' and 'epignosis.' The word in this case is 'epinosis' and this is the more divine and higher level of knowledge. The third word is 'judgment.' This refers to the word 'aisthesis,' which I would say is referring to Godly spiritual insight and discernment. This comes when you understand what God is saying. This is the same basic word for 'perceive' in Luke 9:45 and for 'senses' in Hebrews 5:14. I believe these three references are all referring to something a person would understand from what God has shown or said to them. So now let's look again at this passage in the Amplified Bible: Philippians 1:9-10 (Amplified Bible)9And this I pray: that your love may abound yet more and more and extend to its fullest development in knowledge and all keen insight [that your love may display itself in greater depth of acquaintance and more comprehensive discernment], 10So that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value [recognizing the highest and the best, and distinguishing the moral differences], and that you may be untainted and pure and unerring and blameless [so that with hearts sincere and certain and unsullied, you may approach] the day of Christ [not stumbling nor causing others to stumble].
So what Paul is telling us is that our agape love will abound in the higher level of knowledge and spiritual discernment so that we can prove what is God's will in every situation. Halelujah. This makes perfect sense when you know that God is love and faith works by love. Everything is about love. Praise God, I know this blessed me. I read something by Kenneth Copeland that said you should activate love into every situation when you need some help (really every situation always). When you release love into a situation you are releasing God to move on your behalf, for God is love (1 John 4:8). So I know there are times when I must hear God's voice and get His insight. When I need greater discernment and knowledge from God on a situation I know that I can now just loose the agape love of God, that He has put into my heart according to Romans 5:5, and the Godly wisdom and sense will arrive. Glory to God.
