ANB 79, Send the Angels (5-4-06) "What is man, that You are mindful of him? and the son of man, that You visit him? For you have made him a little lower than the angels, and has crowned him with glory and honour." (Psalm 8:5,6) This verse is a commonly quoted passage out of the King James Translation. The word for angels is Elohiym. That word is in the Bible 2,606 times. Only one time did they translate it angels, 2,591 times they translated it God. That translation is therefore wrong in this instance. So what does the passage say now, God made man just a little lower than God. We have a position above that of the angels. In fact, that passage quoted was spoken by an angel. "For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. But one (one angel) in a certain place testified, saying, "What is man, that you art . . .(same passage as above)." (Hebrews 1:6,7) So we see that an angel was speaking this passage, marveling that God has made man as such an outstanding being in such a high position. Now let us look at our relationship to the angels. "But to which of the angels said God at any time, 'Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool? Are they not all ministering servants, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation." (Hebrews 1:13,14). Let's look at this, praise the Lord. ALL the angels are ministering spirits. They were all created to minister to those who are heirs of salvation. The Christians are the heirs of salvation, Glory to God. The angels were created to minister to us. Everyone of them is at our disposal. Jesus Christ showed this to us. "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and He shall presently give Me more than twelve legions of angels?" (Matthew 26:53). All Jesus had to do was pray to God and God would dispatch the angels. The angels are therefore sent by God to minister to us. So all we have to do is get God to speak to the angels and they will come minster to us. Praise the Lord. But it's easier than that, God has already given us all the words we need to dispatch them. "Bless the LORD, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His Word." (Psalm 103:20) So we see that the angels all respond to the Word of God. Jesus would pray and God would send them. Now why didn't they appear to do their job when Jesus Christ died. Didn't God say that He would "give His angels charge over [Jesus], lest He dash His foot against a stone." (Psalm 91:1) Even satan knew this verse applied to Jesus, for he tempted Jesus with it in Matthew 4. So how could Jesus go to the cross and die brutally when all these angels were charged with His protection. The key is that Jesus didn't call on their protection. He says clearly in Matthew 26 (above) that He could have. But He knew He had to die for our sins, so He opened not His mouth. If He had claimed this Word of God, spoken it, they would have rushed to His aid and

delivered Him. A legion was a group of 6,000 soldiers. That is 72,000 angels Jesus could have had save Him, only He didn't use the Word of God to call on them. Now He didn't do so because He was appointed to die. But we are in a different position. Now because Jesus has restored us to our place just a little lower than God, we are again above the angels and they will minister to us. The major issue is that they hearken to the voice of God's Word. So God's Word sends the angels. But we don't have to wait for God to speak again. We have over 1,000 pages of God's Word that we can freely speak. Deuteronomy chapter 6 (for example) says God will give us houses we didn't build. "Angels, in the Name of Jesus Christ almighty, go get my houses that Deuteronomy promises me when it says God will give me houses I didn't build." That's how I do it. I speak the Word of God. The angels hear it and hearken. I am an heir of salvation, so they know they are supposed to minister to me. Jesus didn't use His angels that time because that was His destiny to die, but we are supposed to use them always. It's very possible that other angels were protecting the apostles present where Jesus was taken, for they would largely continue His Work. A whole troop of Romans came to get Jesus, and they didn't capture any one else, sounds like angelic protection to me. We are supposed to use God's Word to send them and have them minister for us. They are not physical beings, they are spirits, so they can do things and go places we can't. They are for us to use. Praise God. He gave us an army to help in our callings, but the problem is we haven't known this, and we haven't been speaking God's Word. Now let's look at the word "minister." Now the angels "minister." So they are "ministers." The Greek word for "minister" has the following translations - one who executes the commands of another, esp. of a master. A servant, attendant, minister, the servant of a king. These angels, with all their power and beauty, are sent to serve us. We are higher then them, they are to serve us. They begin to serve us when we begin speaking the Word of God and calling on their help. Church, there are too many bored angels out there. We must being speaking the Word of God, getting them involved. They can change and rearrange things so that we, the heirs of salvation, experience all the fruits of salvation. Praise the Lord.
