AIAC – All About Children
Introduction On the occasion of Universal Children’s Day (November 20th) and Children’s Day (as celebrated in India on November 14th), I asked Mary to prepare a Panchang write-up on Walt Disney and Nehru. The article below is her presentation on the subject.
Panchang Analysis of Nehru and Disney Children are celebrated on special state designated days in many countries around the world. The month of November has two such children’s days, Children’s Day (November 14), celebrated in India, and Universal Children’s Day (November 20). Children’s Day in India falls on the birthday of the first Prime Minister of independent India, Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru, in honor of his innumerous efforts on behalf of the welfare and education of India’s children. Universal Children’s Day is celebrated on November 20th, the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on November 20, 1959. The related Convention on the Rights of the Child has been sanctioned by at least 191 countries. Other children’s days during the rest of the year include International Children’s Day (June 1). Many countries have their own children’s days. On November 14 in India, cultural events are organized in schools and children all over the country are rewarded with prizes. Activities include quizzes, fancy dress competitions, and speeches.
Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru and Child Children are the next generation, and it is important that governments and society honor them. So, for this occasion, an interesting exercise would be to analyze the panchang elements of the charts of two men who have contributed greatly to the quality of children’s lives, Walt Disney and Jawaharlal Nehru. ©Ancient Indian Astrology Classes

Panchang (five limbs of time) is normally used for muhurtha (electional) astrology or as a daily ephemeris, not for natal astrology. However, when an astrologer reads a chart, the birth panchang should be first at least informally considered to double check the astrologer’s assessment. The purpose of this article is merely to describe how the panchang elements work in these two natal charts. The panchang (five limbs of time) consists of: Limb

Karana (Prithvi - Mercury):
Vara: Strength to perform/zeal: Mercury Mr. Disney’s Varesh is Mercury which is in Scorpio in the 3rd house. house Mercury is with the Sun in the house of valor, siblings, and communications which is ruled by Mars. His energy and creative fire inspired his creations (his animated films and related businesses) which in turn increased his energy to create more. His 10th house of career benefitted from his energy as Mercury is karaka and ruler of the 10th. His older brother (3rd house) partnered with him and helped him get started when he moved to Los Angeles. Mercury has rasi drishti with Venus (Capricorn in 5th) giving great charm to his creative energy, particularly evident in his animated films for children, and rasi drishti with Ketu (Aries in 8th) giving him the necessary detachment to direct his energy according to his vision. Mercury in the third with Sun in Scorpio (Mars, enemy’s house) indicates that his energy would suffer during some part of his life. Mars, the lord of Scorpio is with Saturn and Jupiter in the 4H (chest, lungs etc.). He was a heavy smoker (Saturn, 4H afflicting Mars) and died at age 65 after lung surgery. Tithi: Fructification of Desires and Passions: Moon Mr. Disney’s Tithi lord is the Moon in Virgo located in the 1st house which is ruled by Mercury, Varesh. The connection between Tithi lord and Varesh indicates his energy drove his passion. He cultivated and nurtured his mind to sustain his vision which enabled him to make innovative films and entertainment against great odds, hardships, and ridicule. Tithi lord Moon is greatly expanded by rasi drishti with Jupiter in its own sign of Sagittarius in the 4th house, as well as Moon being karaka of the 4th. However, Jupiter is in exact conjunction with Saturn in the 4th. As a boy, he studied art to escape his abusive father and sold his art work to a neighbor. Mars is also in the 4th. This is a person could move mountains with his mind and energy, but not without a price in personal happiness (Saturn and Mars in the 4th, Saturn and Rahu have graha drishti on Moon). The product of an upbringing be an abusively strict father, he was notoriously moody, obsessive, and impossibly demanding. He had an obsessive compulsive disorder which caused him to continuously wash his hands when under stress.

Karana: Road to Accomplishment/Work: Vanija Mr. Disney had vanija karana and was a brilliant businessman and developed incredibly successful and wealthy enterprise that continues to this day. Note: Some authorities consider Venus to be the planetary lord for vanija karana, although planetary ruler ships in general for karanas are disputed. In any case, his Venus is in the 5th in Capricorn trine from the Moon (tithi lord), meaning his work would flow effortlessly from his passion. Venus has rasi drishti with Mercury (Varesh) indicating that his energy would foster his work.
Nakshatra: Longevity/Time: Hasta (Moon) Mr. Disney’s Nakshatra is Hasta whose lord is the Moon and ruling deity is Savitur, the Sun. Moon is in lagna, karaka of the 4th, and rules the 11th house of wealth. His Moon is also the tithi lord indicating that his passion and longevity are closely connected. Hasta people often lead lives of fruitless hardship because they want to give everything they have to save others but not themselves. Mr. Disney had many hardships in his early life but eventually prospered from the creations that he gave to the world. He loved trains and collected cuckoo clocks for his own amusement, interests he had from childhood. Interestingly, the symbol for Hasta is the hand, and one of the most distinctive things about the Mickey Mouse characters are their white gloved hands and their expressive movement. Hasta is said to represent duration, time itself. Despite his personality shortcomings and his addiction to cigarettes and alcohol, he innovated and perfected techniques relating to an art based on time (animation) and by the end of his life of 65 years, he had built an entertainment empire.

Sun, yogesh, is in Scorpio in the 3rd house with Mercury, Varesh. His brother and business partner was probably his best friend and helped him in his early struggles. Mr. Disney had high puritanical standards. He fired employees for swearing and broke off his relationship with Spencer Tracey when Spencer began an affair with Katherine Hepburn. energy, belief in philosophical principles, applied with detachment. Varesh Jupiter in trines to lagna indicates an automatic flow of energy for his creations (5th house). He got strength from his family but separated from their values (Jupiter karaka of the 2nd house with Mars in Virgo, Mars has graha aspect with Jupiter) and was an ardent socialist, although his commitment to socialism arguably hindered India’s economic development. Interestingly, China’s attacks on India may have contributed to his death, since his energy derived from his belief in socialism. His energy grew from being a defender of children (Jupiter is in its own sign with moola Ketu, the defender). His daughter was a great support to him and his energy (Jupiter is karaka of the 5th). Gandhi was his mentor (guru) and inspiration to his energy which he applied to his service of liberation (obtaining Indian independence from the British Empire). He was extremely well educated and studied law at the insistence of his father, which served him well later on. (Jupiter is karaka of the 9th). Tithi: Fructification of Desires and Passions: Saturn Mr. Nehru’s tithi lord is Saturn in Leo in the 1st and is Bhadra which indicates that his desire was to build something lasting to benefit the people (masses) of India. Even though he was an only son of a wealthy Brahmin family, very well-educated, and could have been a Kashmiri prince, he was galvanized by the plight of India’s impoverished population and underwent a spiritual conversion after he met Gandhi. He helped found independent India and served as its first prime minister (Saturn in Leo, karaka of 10th). Saturn is in lagna indicating his intelligence was allied with his passions. Varesh Jupiter and tithi lord Saturn are trine, indicating his energy and passions work together, in his case through service (Saturn karaka of 6th) to a new government (Saturn karaka of 10th) which he helped to build including schools for children. He was a passionate advocate of education for India's children, and thus the celebration of his birthday as Children’s Day. Indian children affectionately remember him as Chacha Nehru (Uncle Nehru)). Saturn in the 1st also rules his 7th house indicating a long marriage, 20 years, to his wife Kamala Kaul would have been a help to him and his goals. There is speculation about a long-term relationship with Lady Edwina Mountbatten, wife of the last viceroy and governor-general of India. His only child, Indira Gandhi, became a constant companion in later years and eventually also served as Prime Minister of India.

Karana: Road to Accomplishment/Work: Bava Mr. Nehru’s karana is rajistic Bava. Bava He was a brilliant and charismatic leader of the new independent state of India and he was prime minister for 17 years, age 58 until his death at age 74. Once a proponent for independence who spent time in British prisons, he became a benevolent despot who worked to modernize India. Nakshatra: Longevity/Time: Ashlesha (Mercury) Mr. Nehru’s nakshatra is Ashlesha which is ruled by Mercury in Libra in the 3rd with benefic Venus in its own sign. Ashlesha people are magnetic, deeply thoughtful, austere, and reclusive and often undergo great transformation in their life. Nehru gave up a comfortable law practice to become a leader for independence. During his rule, he relied heavily on his daughter and she became his constant companion and protector during his travels. His Mercury has a rasi drishti with Saturn (Tithi lord) as well as Saturn having graha drishti on Mercury, indicating that he would live to see his passions fulfilled. Stress from the military attacks by the once trusted socialist country of China on India’s northern border regions may have contributed to his death. To this day, his style of clothing and mannerisms are emulated by members of Indian congress (Mercury is karaka of 10th). Yoga: Relationship with Surroundings/Circle of Friends: Sukla (Rahu) (Rahu) Mr. Nehru’s yoga is Sukla which is ruled by moola Rahu in Gemini in the 11th. Sukla people tend to be garrulous and flighty, impatient and impulsive and have an unsteady and changeable mind. Rahu (yogesh) has rasi drishti with Mars in the 2nd and Mars has graha drishti on Rahu. There was fierce competition between the young nationalist and his more conservative father. Yogesh has rasi drishti with Jupiter (varesh) and Ketu in the 5th indicating he would benefit from relationship with outcasts (Gandhi). In addition, yogesh aspects Mercury and Venus in Libra in the 3rd by graha drishti that could indicate his innovative (disruptive) policies: five years plans involving education, land distribution and building dams and other infrastructure in India.
