Parent Group Director at Northbrook High School 2015- ongoing
Organized a parent group at a school who had gone 13 years without any prior parent involvement. Organized parents to offer monthly coffee and Mexican pastries for all faculty and staff. Organized parents to offer a yearly Valentine’s Day treats distribution for all faculty and staff on Valentine’s Day. Organized parents to offer a yearly faculty luncheon provided by the parents at the end of May. Organized parents to offer sack lunches to students that stay for mandatory after school STAAR tutoring. Gained valuable skills necessary to reach out to the community of parents and inspire them to serve the school, which is invaluable as an administrator.
Conducted Action Research (AR): Surveyed the current educator perception of bilingual education at secondary schools with predominantly Hispanic or Latino minority students. (2018)
Created an appropriate coding for quantifying qualitative data. Created and tested the surveys for accuracy. o Findings supported by the research: Teachers surveyed stated that bilingual education was either effective or ineffective at their campus and the success depended on the presence of teachers that are bilingual. Gained valuable experience for conducting action research at a school setting as a way of monitoring progress on newly implemented projects proposed by CITs and PLCs. Thus as an administrator I will be able monitor the efficacy of projects on my campus. Other responsibilities and Experiences
