Dividing Fractions
Green pg 136
This lesson was in the middle compared to the other lessons on fractions. Dividing fractions is harder that multiplying fractions, but easier that adding them. In order to solve a problem with 2 fractions and asked to divide them, you do this: Take the second number, and flip it around (take the numerator and put it as the denominator, and take the denominator and put it as the numerator), then you multiply the fractions. The hardest part about doing problems on fractions, is that you have to simplify the answer. And it’s kind of hard when you get a fraction like 239/7873. But sometimes if you simplify before the multiplication, it becomes easier for you to figure out the problem. Ex. 215/600 x 300/430= (simplified) ½ x ½ = ¼
