Magna Carta- Answers Q: What are the major principles of Magna Carta as seem in this excerpt? A: The English church is to be free. If anyone is a heir but is underage they will receive what has been given to them when they become the appropriate age. Every city has their own ancient liberties and free customs. No one can be punished until they are proven guilty, or “innocent until proven guilty.”
Q: Why has the Magna Carta been considered such an important historical document? A: Magna Carta was a document that redefined the relationships between the kings and vassals. It also redefined rights and liberties. Many of the things in the Magna Carta still hold true as laws and rules to this day.
Q: Why is the concept of property so prominent in the Magna Carta? A: Property was not only the property of land, but that of money and fortunes passed around. It would define how a person would receive all the money and wealth they had been given at the appropriate age (even up to this day). In all, it redefined the transfer of land and money between groups and people.
Q: The first point expresses a "free English church", why do think this was important to include? A: I believe the word “free” means it’s up to you if you want to participate in the church, so it’s not as harsh. It also doesn’t have the part in government and ruling that it used to have and is “free” of these things. Becoming a free church would lead to “holding its rights entire and its liberties uninjured (safe).”
