Abstrack

The magelang duck is an Indonesian local duck wich is found in Central Java particulary in Magelang. The majority of this ducks are maintened by Indonesian farmers using by tradisional husbandry techniques that there is no addition of lighting systems and the addition of supplements into the duck feed, so it needs to research on reproductive behaviour that maintened in small flocks with red monochromatic light and white polichromatic light and additonal of curcumin supplement into the duck feed. The light and the curcumin is the factor to influence of biorhytm and avian reproduction. There is 4 treatment in this research, flock A0B0 that treated with white light and 0 mg of curcumin, flock A0B1 that treated with white light and 18 mg dosage of curcumin, flock A1B0 that treated with red light and 0 mg dosage of curcumin, and flock A1B1 that treated with red light and 18 mg dosage of curcumin supplement. Each flock consist of 4 female ducks and a male duck. On this research there is 5 variables that have to observed every day during 3 weeks, the variables is courtship, mounting and positioning, stimulating, erection and ejaculation, and post coital display. The data that obtained during observation analyzed using descriptive methode. Based on the data that obtained on the research flock A1B1 that treated with red light and 18 mg dosage of curcumin supplement is the highest number of mating between another flock in every week. First week, the number of mating in A1B1 flock is 3 times, and then the number of mating increase to 4 times in second week, and the week number of mating is 4 times.

Paparan visual unggas jantan terhadap betina merupakan salah satu stimulus yang efektif dalam kesempatan untuk berkopulasi. Sebuah penelitian telah membuktikan adanya stimulus lain yang dapat mempengaruhi kopulasi yaitu rangsangan suara, cahaya yang berwarna, busa atau balok kayu (benda dengan bentuk yang menyerupai unggas betina yang sedang jongkok).

Physical movements, from daring dives to intricate sequences including wing flaps, head dips, bill rubbing or different steps can be part of a courtship ritual. In many species, the male alone will dance for his female while she observes his actions, while in other species both partners interact with one another. Dance mistakes show inexperience, weakness or hesitancy and would likely not lead to a successful mating.
