Time to Bid Farewell...

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

When I received a call to preach nearly fifty years ago, I was far too young to imagine the depth and breadth of God's abiding grace. He has gifted me with my wife, Jane, my best friend for over 40 years, my daughters, their husbands and my wonderful grandchildren. To serve you for the past 15 years has been added blessings, filled with surprises of grace.

We want to get to know you better! After you’ve filled this form out, drop it in the offering plate, hand it to an usher, or take it to the receptionist’s desk near the breezeway. Name:_______________________________________________ Email: _______________________________________________

Together we have witnessed and weathered the seasons of church life. We've celebrated and grieved, married and buried. We welcomed hosts of new Christians and bid farewell to others.

Address: _____________________________________________ City: ________________________________________________ State: _______________________________________________

Now it's time to bid farewell to you, the faithful people of DFC. My December break afforded me opportunity to rest, reflect, pray and listen. As the mountain snow fell and the days passed, Jane and I came to a growing sense of peace that God was affirming our sentiments.

Cost is $125, or $105 each if you bring a non-DFC friend! This is our outreach retreat, so we hope you’ll bring a friend. Pick up a registration at the Student Ministries Booth after church or register online at www.freshflood.com. Hope to see you there!

Occupation/Major: ____________________________________ Moments ago, I sent a letter to the Church Board in which I shared these convictions. Our District Superintendent, Rev. David Ralph, is fully aware of my decision and has functioned as a friend and pastor to me. While the details of my impending resignation rest with the District Superintendent and the Church Board, I have offered the following: 1) In harmony with the Manual of the Church of the Nazarene, I will retain my role through the end of January, at which time I will step down from the day-to-day operations. Rev. Ralph will meet with your Board Monday night to outline the process of calling a new pastor and to set things in motion to make sure that ministry continues uninterrupted during the transition. 2) If your leadership desires, I will remain as preaching pastor as long as I can be of service or, until I accept a new assignment or you successfully engage a new pastor. If, in the Board's wisdom, it's best that I not continue in that capacity, I will certainly honor their judgment. At this writing, Jane and I have no idea where the Lord will lead us to serve in 2009. That's okay. We trust Him. At the same time, we welcome your prayers on our behalf. This coming Sunday I will intend to preach with thanksgiving, heartfelt gratitude for God's calling on my life and His blessings on yours. Respectfully submitted,

Tim Stearman “My House Will Be Called A House Of Prayer” Isaiah 56:7 Lord, we pray that you would help us to not become weary and to continue walking with you. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
