What is Faith Promise? Faith Promise is not a pledge but a promise—a voluntary promise that I will give to God a specific amount, in addition to my regular tithe, for world evangelism to help fulfill the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19..Jesus said to..go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…) Faith Promise is a covenant made between God and me based on my faith in God’s ability to supply out of His resources what I cannot give out of my own. Faith Promise involves listening to God, promising to give as He impresses me, and trusting Him to provide.
Matt & Sonya Price Matt and Sonya Price are missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene. They have served in Africa since 2002. Matt and Sonya were called to serve as missionaries while teenagers in Ohio and Indiana. Both came from unchurched homes, but both had faithful grandparents who introduced them to the Church of the Nazarene. Matt and Sonya met at General Assembly in 1989 while cleaning up the streets and parks for an NYI service project in Indianapolis, Indiana. They were married in 1992. They graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene College (now University) in 1994. Sonya was involved in student government and Matt served as a leader in campus ministries, including three years as president of Mandate, the campus missions organization. Matt graduated from Nazarene Theological Seminary with an M.Div. while serving as an associate pastor at Nall Avenue Church of the Nazarene in Prairie Village, Kansas. Sonya earned her M.S. in special education while teaching junior high in Olathe, Kansas. Matt has since earned a Ph.D. in education from the University of Kansas, served as the pastor of a small rural church, and spent four years in Sunday School Ministries, Children's Ministries, and NYI as a curriculum editor. After six years of teaching public school, Sonya ran a home day care before returning to the classroom as an assistant professor of education at Missouri Western State College. It was during their nine years spent in Kansas City that their two sons were born. Since moving overseas three years ago, Parker (3/31/98) and Payton (4/10/00), along with their parents, have lived in Côte d'Ivoire, South Africa, France and Benin. Lord, please teach us to wait and look for your promise. “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49
