Y9 - Algebra 3 – 9X1 Level 6:

Use systematic trial and improvement methods and ICT tools to find approximate solutions to harder equations e.g. Solve x3 + x = 20 using trial and improvement.

*Construct and solve linear equations with integer coefficients, using an appropriate method Solve, e.g.    

3c – 7 = -13 4(z + 5) = 84 (b – 1) – 5(b + 1) = 0 12 / (x+1) = 21 / (x + 4)

Construct linear equations, e.g. The length of a rectangle is three times its width. Its perimeter is 24cm. Find its area.

*Use algebraic and graphical methods to solve simultaneous linear equations in two variables Solve these simultaneous equations using an algebraic method: 3a+2b=16, 5a-b=18 Solve graphically the simultaneous equations x+3y=11 and 5x-2y=4
