Republic of Marshal Islands • JFPR: Improved Energy Supply to Urban Households • 2010 approval. $3 million. • Output 1: Improved access and management of electricity for the poor through installation of pre-payment meters. • Output 2: Extension of power to the poor and upgrading distribution systems through extending the distribution grid and improving quality of supply on existing grid. • Output 3: Trialing of coconut blended fuels in main power stations to generate alternative incomes for the poor. • Consulting services and procurement (works and equipment) packages let 2010.

• RETA: Promoting Renewable Energy in the Pacific • $3 million– PNG, SOL, VAN. • PNG: hydropower, SOL: coconut oil biofuel for power generation, VAN: solar power. • Consultant recruitment commenced for SOL. Consulting services required for PNG and VAN 2010. • RETA: 6485-REG: Promoting Energy Efficiency in the Pacific. • TA ongoing. Follow-on upscaling project will commence in 2010 with $1 million CDTA, $6 million from Global Environment Fund ($6 million) and potential cofinancing. • Consulting services required 2010. • RETA: Strengthening the Capacity of Pacific Developing Member Countries to Respond to Climate Change. • Waiting funding approval. 2010 implementation • Includes (i) $1 million for upscaling renewable energy, and (ii) $0.5 million for promotion of the Clean Development Mechanism to promote carbon trading. • Consulting services required 2010.
