Standard 6: Professionalism Component 6.b: Engage in continued professional growth and collaboration in schools and/or professional organizations Artifact: EDU 256 Host Teacher Evaluations Date: Spring 2018 Reflection: One on my favorite experiences in Cortland’s physical education program were my two weeks of field experience under the PED 256 course. In my two weeks of observation I was able to collaborate with experienced physical education teachers and school administration. I gained valuable tools and insight to better my teaching. My two host teachers evaluated me for the week I was observing their class. In both evaluations, I got the grade of Target for all of the criteria that was based on the national SHAPE standards. These were the highest grades possible on the rating scale. I took part in leading small lessons like a spike ball station, introductory golf instructions, engaging with students, inquiring about ENL extensions with teachers in the school district, and speaking with school administration. These were valuable experiences that allowed me to engage in professional growth among veteran educators. I believe I became more knowledgeable and even more prepared to take on a very rewarding career in teaching. My evaluations proved that I am a very motivated prospective teacher that continues to improve in some of the aspects of education. These aspects include communication skills, applying content knowledge, analyzing skill, cultural competence, and continued professional growth that are all reflected in my graded rubric. I learned to develop as

an educator, but also as a professional as well. These are characteristics that I will continue to develop even more to become the best educator I can be.
