Youth Corner LIFE DECONSTRUCTED; PART 2 From part 01, many questions were raised on what life is really about. We wondered why we were born, what we should live for and what memory of us we will leave behind after we die. Answers to these questions matter because most often than not they determine how reckless (YOLO), seeking all possible worldly pleasures or how moderate and cautions not to over indulge one will choose to live. They determine how attentive and appreciative one will be to their friends and family, enjoying all of life's mundane nature, or how distant and nonchalant they will be in a pursuit of wealth and fame In either of these choices, one thing is certain. You will certainly die. Death is the ultimate unifier. An equalizing event that will happen to us all; the rich and the poor alike, to the wise and the foolish, the believers and unbelievers. For the believers, we have a hope that after our physical death, we shall become attain greater. In our glorified bodies, we shall be liberated from our flesh that craves for sin and live uninhibited to glorify God forever and ever. This hope is perfect and Ecclesiastes builds upon it by guiding us on how to keep perspective as we live here on earth. This book tells us that one day, death will take us from all of these earthly joys. It tells us that we should never treat these earthly joys as if these earthly jobs as if they are ultimate. Yes, God richly provides us with everything to enjoy, a new born in a young family, the graduation of a child, a great career opportunity, some investment prospects, a partner for companionship, a hobby, skill and many other luxuries but be cautioned do not worship them. Accept that death will take us from it all, thereafter enjoy them for the flickering goods they are; freeing yourself to live in fear of God, wisely and faithfully for God's glory and for the good of His Word.

[email protected] YEAR 2019 THEME - “BECOMING A CHRIST CENTERED CHURCH " 1ST CORINTHIANS 2:2
Message of the Week
Sun.24 th March 2019
BE OF ONE MIND 1 COR 1:10 – 17
Last week we learned that, the church is called out from the world to be separate. We are called from the world to be Christ centered. This is true for any church that calls upon the name of Christ and it was true for the Church at Corinth. However, from the text in focus we see that the church got derailed from its mandate and calling because of sins which included, fornication, and incest, among others. Of interest to note is that Paul begins by addressing divisions. Why that? It's a dangerous enemy lurking within. John MacArthur writes, "…few things demoralize, discourage, and weaken a church as much as bickering, backbiting and fighting among its members… Because of quarrelling the Father is dishonored, the son is disgraced, his people are demoralized and discredited, and the world is turned off and confirmed in unbelief. Fractured fellowship robs Christians of joy and effectiveness, robs God of glory, and robs the world of the true testimony of the gospel. A high price for an ego trip!" Divisions sup up the energy from the body of believers. They threaten the very life of a community of believers. A body with as many gifts as the one at Corinth can be rendered ineffective because of divisions. It is the cancer within and must never be underestimated for its negative effect on the body. He is a more dangerous brother who causes strife than one who struggles with secret sins. Jerry Bridges notes, "few things are dishonoring to the cause of Christ as Christians quarrelling among themselves. Yet we expel people from our fellowship for adultery, while we tolerate discord between ourselves and other believers. We have failed to understand and obey the biblical imperative to 'make every effort to do what leads to peace'" Paul reports that it was Chloe's household that informed him of the divisions and its nature. Their role is worth commending. The church had written to Paul seeking his guidance on a number of things but notably failed to mention divisions. Members in Chloe's household did not fear to risk being ostracized. They told the apostle without cautioning him not to reveal their names. This shows that their determination to see the problem sorted out was greater than the need to maintain a false dignity. They were concerned with the welfare of the testimony of Jesus Christ in Corinth. And that too ought to be our concern. We must maintain the unity and single-mindedness of the body. This is best done by preaching the message of the cross that helps us to remember from whence we were bought and with what price. It doesn't matter who baptized you, or which preacher seems better than the other, our allegiance must be to Christ alone. We must keep our eyes on the gospel of Jesus Christ. The focus of the Christian proclamation must remain clearly centered on the message of the crucifixion rather than baptism or any other doctrine.
