Give them ~3 minutes to share. Take a couple of volunteers afterward. Here are the groups:

So we mentioned a lot of technology that we have (e.g., phones, computers, watches, etc.). But there is other technology that we didn’t mention. Robots. Who knows what a robot is? Ss open to packet p. 50. Activity A ~5 minutes. We will listen to part of a talk that will explain more about robots. Play the first section of the talk. Ss should listen and complete part B as they listen. Now, we will listen to the whole talk. Listen to the whole talk and complete activity D on p. 51. We heard a lot about these robots. Now, let’s talk about our own opinions. Line up Ss facing each other in speed dating style. P. 51 activity F. Part 1: 2 minutes, switch Part 2: 2 minutes, switch Part 3: 2 minutes, return to seats

Thank, return to seats. What did you learn? Now, we’ll practice pronunciation for a little bit. 10:20 How do we create the first person singular? (Add an s.) Often, the verb is not the last word in the sentence. We want to give more information. Write example on board: Joseph studies engineering. In English, we often connect the third person singular “s” with the word that follows it. Draw a curved line to connect studies and engineering. We do this often. Let’s practice with a listening activity. Class Reflection What went well?  

 

We were able to review some of Natalie’s lesson from yesterday with the Google survey about Internet use (not in lesson plan because it came up later). (Enabling A and B) The Ss had a lot of great questions about the vocabulary (makes calls, keeps track of steps, etc.). (Enabling A) We spent a lot longer on that than I had planned, but it worked out. We did not have time to talk about the first-person singular. I thought the speed-talking activity went really well. The Ss were awake, engaged, and took turns speaking. (Enabling B) The Ss were full of great comments throughout the whole period. I wish we had more time to continue talking, but we will pick up where we left off tomorrow.

What could have gone better?  

I had meant to hand out the packets before class started, but I didn’t have time beforehand. I should probably remind the Ss to raise their hands before speaking.

What concerns were there?

  

[Student] stepped out a couple of times, but not for more than 10 minutes overall. [Students] did not have their L/S Logs because they were absent when I handed them out, but they both reported that they had still completed the homework. [Students] forgot to do the homework.
