Learning objectives Students will identify and label the parts of the Respiratory System. Using technology, smart board lessons and Internet sites on the human body/respiratory system students will be introduced to the human lung and how it works. Using materials provided, students will work collaboratively to make a lung and show how our lungs work. The students will be assessed using the RubiStar rubric and the worksheet to label the parts of the lung. You can find help for how to write learning objectives at http://apha.confex.com/apha/learningobjectives.htm A good list of action verbs can be found at http://www.adprima.com/verbs.htm
Materials required Research information on the lung Smartboard Computer MS Power Point lesson Internet sites:
TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATED CLASSROOM LESSON Include a list of all materials you will need to complete the activity. Remember to include software and hardware. For example: MS Paint, MS Word, MS PowerPoint 15 PCs, scanner, digital camera, zip disk drive, zip disks, color ink jet printer
Approximate number of class periods and length Be REALISTIC here. Tell us how many class periods you will need for the activity and keep in mind that you will have start up issues and tech problems (plan time in for those things)
Classroom management strategies: Is the lesson for an individual, a small group, or a large group? Tell us where you are doing the activity: classroom, at home, computer lab, one computer classroom etc.
Warm up How do you plan to introduce the curriculum to the students? What activities will you need to do prior to bringing your class to the computer lab?
Activities/ Procedures Here is where the detail comes in: write a step by step approach to implementing the activity
Assessment strategies How will you assess the students? You must include a rubric that will assess the results of the technology project. Check out http://rubistar.4teachers.org/ for help with designing rubrics. Also look at Kathy Schrock’s guide for rubrics http://school.discovery.com/schrockguide/assess.html
Related Web Sites What web sites (if any) will you use to enhance your lesson or directly as part of your lesson?
TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATED CLASSROOM LESSON Back-up plan: (if the technology fails!) How will you adapt this activity if the technology fails?
Branching out What additional enrichment or remediation activities will you provide for students that are above/below level?
