French and Indian War, 1754 – 1763                               9/13/05

           Alliance System with Indians Very beneficial to them to trade with Indians. They get  along.  Economy and Population.  Economy based on trade. 1.5 million English colonists, only about 60 thousand French England and its Colonies in 1754 Britsh navy was the strongest and best. Also economy.  Iroquois.  Who is going to be the dominate country in the colonies? Fight for power.  Beginning of French and Indian war The ohio river valley:  asks French to leave. George Washington in charge of this expedition. But he does notice  a perfect spot to build a fort. Where the 3 rivers meet. So british build a fort prince  george. But before they are able to complete the fort, the French kick them out, French  complete the fort and name it Fort Duquesne.  Looks like French are goin to be dominate in this valley.  British are ambushed by French and Indians.  War breaks out in Europe, called the 7 years war. Britsh and Prussians vs france. While  French remain to get upper hand.  Indians are always playing French and British depending on what is best for them.  The Year of Miracles, 1759 William Pitt.­ British finally defeat the French. Nameds war minister and brings a whole  new perspective to fight the war.
