CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN Pastor Bill Kellough

I am writing this message on Tuesday, January 20. This is a historic day as Barak H Obama, the first black man becomes president of the United States of America. There is a great air of enthusiasm and great expectations with his inauguration in the face of some grave problems in this country. I wish for him great success in leadership and encourage all our readers to pray for him daily. (1 Ti. 2:1-2) His theme has been “Change That We Can Believe In”. His change focuses on social reform, economic security, liberation of the oppressed and peace in the world. The question is: these aspirations are noble, but can we believe these changes can be realized? His mantra has been “Yes we can”. When we turn to the Scriptures, we find the change that we can believe in, because every Word of God is sure. We can believe in the change that comes about when an unbeliever becomes a repentant sinner and comes to Christ. What a wonderful change it is. He passes from death unto life; he who was condemned already is justified and stands before God without any condemnation; he who was a

slave to sin becomes a servant of God; he who walked in darkness now walks in the light, even as Christ IS the light. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. We can believe in ALL the promises of God. The Word of God proclaims The Lord is not slack concerning his promise (2 Peter 3:9) His love to us is an everlasting, never failing love. He does not promise to deliver us from trouble and peril, but He does promise to go through those thing with us. He is at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us. So regardless of what our circumstances are we have victory in Christ. Paul the apostle said: “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39) . Our hope for a better life in this world and the one to come is in the person of Jesus Christ our Lord. We can truly say; “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me ( Philippians 4:13) . Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

\ This epistle written by the apostle Paul to the Corinthians is his second longest letter. We know more about this church than any other church in the New Testament. It was written to them while Paul was in Ephesus. The apostle spent 18 months there and his ministry was very contentious with the Jews of that very wicked city. Yet God greatly blessed this body of believers. His theme is “how to apply principles of righteousness to every day living”. He deals with ♦ Misunderstandings and divisions in the church ♦ Moral disorders in the Christian community ♦ Marriage, divorce and remarriage ♦ Christian Liberty vs legalism ♦ Worship and Spiritual gifts ♦ Resurrection and the believers hope ♦ And much more Please make it a point to get in on this very appropriate study for our times. Come early for breakfast refreshment and fellowship. Class time is at 9:30 AM. We provide prepared notes and use power point to make learning easier. By the way, bring your friends. Class is open to all men and women of all ages and status.
