WALKING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT (PART 0NE) This teaching is divided into two parts: a. The ministry of the Holy Spirit b. Walking with the Holy Spirit

The ministry of the Holy Spirit Before we start, I want to talk about who the Holy Spirit is. The Holy Spirit is the third person among the trinity. There are three persons in one God. We have God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Describing the Holy Spirit As we have said, the Holy Spirit is a person. He is not a wind, He is not a bird, He is not oil, and neither is He an angel. All that I have just mentioned are His symbols. 1. Isaiah 63:9,10 2. Luke 3:21,22 3. 1 Samuel 16:13 4. Acts 2:1-4 5. Luke 11:20; Matthew 12:28 Note: • The Holy Spirit has a feeling. He can be hurt (Ephesians 4:30). • The Holy Spirit is the carrier of the power of God (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8). • He is the container of the personality (character) and the abilities of God (1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Galatians 5:22). • He was there when you were created (Genesis 1:26; Job 33:3). What is the ministry of the Holy Spirit?

1. He is our helper. The Greek meaning is counselor, guide, comforter, or teacher (John 14:26). 2. He is the revealer of divine secrets (John 16:13; 1Corinthians 2:9-11). 3. He empowers us to fulfill God’s assignment (Romans 15:19; Micah 3:8; Acts 1:8; 10:38). 4. He is our leader. He gives us divine direction (Romans 8:14; Acts 16:6-10; 13:4). Before we are qualified for His leading, we must completely submit ourselves to His leadership. He wants to be in total control or He will not lead at all. In other to be led by the Holy Spirit, we must be sensitive to His voice and feelings concerning whatever we do. How does the Holy Spirit lead? 1. By His voice in our spirit. 2. By the word of God highlighted in our mind while reading the bible. 3. By dreams or vision (Acts 16:9, 10; 10:9-20). 4. By the instruction of the prophet (Acts 21:8-11; 2 Chronicles 20:14-17). Note: Prophetic office is one of the offices that the Holy Spirit uses so much to guide and help His people (Ezra 5:1, 2; 6:14). 5. The Holy Spirit helps us to prosper (Isaiah 32:15; 2:41). 6. He gives us the ability to do what ordinary person cannot do (Acts 5:12, 15, 16).
