WALKING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT (PART TWO) You cannot walk with someone you do not know. To walk with someone, you must understand who the person is, what the person likes, and what the person does not like. Yesterday, we talked about the person of the Holy Spirit. Today, we want to talk about what He likes, what He does not like, and how to walk with him. What Holy Spirit likes 1. Obedience (1 Samuel 12:15; Job 36:11, 12). Note: Disobedience grieves the Holy Spirit so much (Isaiah 63:9, 10). 2. Having devotion with Him in a quiet place (Mark 1: 35). 3. Seeking His will in everything you do (Proverbs 3:5, 6). 4. Ministering to Him in songs (Colossians 3:16). What the Holy Spirit does not like 1. 2. 3. 4.

Worldly friendship (James 4:5, 6). Insensitivity to His leading. Ignoring His voice. Mingling with immorality, e.g. (watching sexual films, listening to corrupt conversations (Ephesians 4:29, 30). 5. Disobeying Him (The story of Paul and Saul). Conclusion If you must work with Him, you must keep away from what He does not like and do what He likes. You must behave like Jesus Christ (Luke 4:1-14).

Walking with the Holy Spirit means; being able to keep His presence with you. Without the Holy Spirit in our lives, we will not be able to please God (Proverbs 1:23; Ezekiel 36:27). Walking with the Holy Spirit is the best thing that can happen to you. You may not be able to live a happy life if He is not in your life. You will not be able to fulfill your destiny without the Holy Spirit (Zachariah 4:6). The presence of the Holy Spirit helps you to overcome your enemies. King David knew this. FACTS ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT • • • • • • • • • • •

The Holy Spirit was with you before salvation took place in your life. The Holy Spirit is in you at salvation. The Holy Spirit comes on you to empower you for His service (Luke 4:18). This is per season and for a reason. He is not always on you. You can’t carry Him all the time. When He is on you, He affects your word and action. His presence with you changes your life style. When His presence is with you at service, His power can be released. His presence with you gives you peace and tranquility; His power makes act supernaturally. He will use you when His power comes; He will change you, when His presence stays with you. You need both! His presence reveals His nature; His power reveals His acts. His presence gives you joy; His anointing makes you act (Psalm 16:11; Acts 1:8). When He is with you, He teaches you; when He is on you, He stirs you into action (1 John 2:20, 27; 1 Samuel 10:6).
