Spelling 2009 What we are learning this week:
Words
« Reading: we will be building vocabulary and reading fluency as well as learning about how to identify the main idea in a story. « Math: we will continue rounding to the nearest ten and hundred as well as begin practicing two and three digit addition. « Science: we will be learning the similarities and differences between solids, liquids, and gases. « Social Studies: we will be continue discussing rural, suburban, and urban communities.

CALENDAR
Try to remember to do the following when you read aloud to or with your child:

9/25: wear a team jersey

10/5: title tutoring begins

10/6: science test
•
10/8: report cards go home
•
10/12-10/13: no school
point out the title, author & illustrator; look at the cover illustration and predict what will happen in the story; look at the pictures before you read and predict what will happen in the story; use expression when you read and let your child imitate you; let your child take the lead sometimes by letting them comment or ask questions as you read.
