There are scores of untrue, misleading, and ads, e-mails, websites, TV pundits etc pushing hard to defeat reform of the healthcare/insurance system in the United States. Many special interest groups are hard at work endeavoring to scare people in their effort to retain the status quo and insurance company profits derived from health insurance. Judging from the behavior of some at Town Hall Meetings throughout the U.S. those opposing reform are having some success.
On former Sen. Fred Thompson’s radio show, former lieutenant governor of New York Betsy McCaughey said that the House’s proposed health care bill contained a provision that would institute mandatory counseling sessions telling seniors how ―to do what’s in society’s best interest… and cut your life short.‖ House Minority Leader John Boehner made a slightly more measured statement, warning that the same provision ―may start us down a treacherous path toward governmentencouraged euthanasia if enacted into law.‖
The claim that the House health care bill pushes suicide is nonsense. I have devoted a lot of

years of public service as secretary of state and in Congress…and will continue to be in an important position for Nevada.‖ Heller’s decision comes just days Danny Tarkanian announced his intention to challenge Reid for the Senate next year. Read more

F i n d i n g Progressive programs are coming to Pahrump. It is a good thing. The Nevada Center for Public Policy Dialogue (NCPPD) seminar was conducted in Pahrump. It was brought by the League of Women Voters. There was no debate. No voices were raised in frustration or anger at the day long session held at Great Basin College.

C o n s e r v a t i v e s f o r P a t i e n t ’ s M i s l e a d i n g A d The latest ad from the group Conservatives for Patients’ Rights claims that ―new rules could hike your health insurance premiums 95 percent.‖ That’s misleading. The claim in the ad refers to only 5 percent of
Americans who have health insurance – those who buy it on their own. The claim comes from an analysis by a group that advocates for insurance carriers that sell policies in the individual market, among other

areas. This ad puts forth a new claim, saying that ―new rules could hike your health insurance premiums 95 percent.‖ That’s a startling statement. But it’s contradicted by other
experts that find premiums would actually go down under the leading proposals in Congress. Read more.

And then you will get
your just deserts.‖ He was accusing Arlen Specter of being too kind to President Obama’s proposals to make it easier for people to get health insurance. In New Hampshire, outside a building where Obama spoke, cameras
trained on the pistol strapped to the leg of libertarian William Kostric. He then explained on CNN why the ―tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time by the blood of tyrants and patriots.‖ New Hampshire or Pahrump? Read more
