Putting text information in an outline- very useful in understanding the relationship between general and specific ideas by putting them in order 7. Identifying cause and effect-a reading strategy that is very useful in knowing what condition produced and how a condition was produced by another condition 8. Summarizing- very useful in reading all kinds of texts because it helps you understand and remember the important ideas 9. Identifying main ideas and details- involves determining which ideas are broad and which ones are specific 10. Paraphrasing- helps the reader understand difficult parts of a text by simplifying complex ideas 11. Skimming – reading rapidly in order to get a general overview of the material. 12. Scanning – reading rapidly in order to find specific facts.
