INPUT What is Input?  According to O’Leary and O’Leary, input is define as input devices that translate what people understand into forms that computers can process.  Input is composed of date and instructions.

INPUT DEVICES  Again, input devices are devices that are able to translate what people understand into a form that computers can process.  Examples would be keyboards, mouse, joysticks, and scanners.

KEYBOARDS  Traditional Keyboards - Full-sized, rigid, rectangular keyboard that include function, navigational, and numeric keys  Flexible Keyboards - Fold or roll up for each packing or storage  Ergonomic Keyboards - Similar to traditional keyboards. POINTING DEVICES  Pointing Devices, according to O’Leary & O’Leary, provides a comfortable interface with the system unit by accepting pointing gestures and converting them into machine-readable inputs.  Examples of pointing devices include but are not limited to: Mouse, Joystick, Touch Screen, and Light Pen

MOUSE  The mouse of a computer controls the pointer that appears on the monitor.  Examples: Mechanical Mouse, Optical Mouse, Cordless Mouse.  Mechanical Mouse - the basic mouse with a ball on the bottom and buttons.  Optical Mouse - A mouse that has no moving ball, instead it emits and senses light to control movements.  Cordless Mouse - a mouse that has no cords and all movement is transmitted through infrared light.

JOYSTICK  Joysticks are normally used for computer games.  It controls the game’s movements by pressure, speed, and direction of the joystick.

TOUCH SCREEN  This type of monitor has a clear plastic outer layer, and behind that outer layer are infrared beams of light.

SCANNING DEVICES  Flatbed Scanner - like a copy machine  Portable Canner - a hand held device that slides across images  Bar Code Readers - a grocery scanner  Character and Mark Recognition Devices Scanners that are able to recognizes special characters and marks  Examples: MICR, OMR, or OCR

IMAGE CAPTURING DEVICES  Digital Cameras  Digital Video Cameras

OUTPUT  Output is the processed of data or information such as text, graphics, audio , and videos.

WHAT IS OUPUT?  Output devices are able to translate and processed information into a form that humans can understand.  Examples: Monitors, Printers, Fax Machines, multifunction devices, and internet telephone.

MOINTORS  Types of monitors:  Cathode-ray tube  Flat-Panel  E-books  Date projectors

PRINTERS  Examples:  Ink-jet printer  Laser Printer  Thermal Printers  Dot Matrix  Plotters  Photo Printers  Portable Printers
