What is TRI-MEweb? EPA’s on-line TRI electronic reporting system
No more software to download Can be accessed anywhere there is an internet connection Enhanced Security File format is extensible mark-up language (XML) instead of flat file 2
Important Notice As part of the 2009 Federal Omnibus Bill, Congress mandated a removal of the TRI Burden Reduction Rule Threshold limits for the Form A usage return to under 500 lbs annual reporting amount and under 1,000,000 lbs processed, or manufactured, or otherwise used PBTs may not file Form A 3
What do I do if I have filed a Form A already? If you filed a Form A prior to March 11th that would be ineligible for the use of form A under the new thresholds, TRI asks that you revise the previously submitted form A with a Form R How do I do this?
The preferred method would be to submit a revision through TRI-MEweb for the chemical You may also use TRI-ME CD or paper 4
Why TRI-MEweb? Will promote internet reporting No need to email CDs No need to test operating system/software compatibility Application changes can be made instantly Will lead to earlier data releases due to increases in internet reporting 5
RY 2007 TRI-MEweb Full Release Approximately 7,238 (32%) facilities located in all states used the TRI-MEweb application to submit 33,347 (36%) chemical forms for RY 2006.
Up from 3% of Forms in RY2006
As before, we generated a lot of feedback The were some issues….
6
Issues Users had trouble finding the ESA Users had trouble knowing when their ESA was approved Submissions sometimes did not appear to the certifier
7
Solutions Moved the ESA process out earlier in the registration Implemented an email to inform users when ESAs are approved In the process of upgrading the hardware in CDX to allow for better processing to make sure submissions don’t go into “purgatory” 8
TRI-MEweb RY2008 Available to all TRI reporters, including first time filers Release Date of: Soon Technical Contacts will receive an email with a facility access key
If they didn’t, either contact the TRI regional coordinator or use the last year’s technical contact name and phone number method to access the application. 9
