TRENTON Technology Introduces Dual-Core, Dual Processor System Host Board Trenton's New SLT and SLI System Host Boards Feature the Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor LV 2.0GHz and the Intel® E7520 Chipset.
Atlanta, GA – The SLT is a dual processor, server-class system host board (SHB) that represents the latest addition to Trenton’s line of SHB ExpressTM or PICMG® 1.3 compatible products. The Trenton SLI is a single dual-core processor version of the SLT. The high-bandwidth/high-speed PCI ExpressTM (PCIe) links designed into the SLT/SLI are ideally suited to support multiple PCI Express cards, devices and bridges to PCI-X/PCI option cards on a PICMG 1.3 compatible backplane. Trenton’s SLT features the Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor LV 2.0GHz, which merges two high-performance execution cores with enhanced intelligent power management features, resulting in superior computing performance per watt. The SLT supports two processors, thereby enabling four execution cores per SHB resulting in superior system performance. The really impressive part of the SLT and the new Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor LV 2.0GHz is that this additional processing capability takes about half as much system power to deliver impressive MIPS/Watt when compared to prior generations of low-voltage Intel Xeon processors.
“Trenton’s SLT and SLI products bring the increased capability of dual-core multiprocessing functionality needed in many server-class computing applications,” said Bill Bowling, Vice President & General Manager of Trenton’s Computer Products Division. “The Dual-Core Intel® Xeon® processor LV 2.0GHz has a thermal design power of 31 watts, which enables Trenton Technology to optimize their system host boards for high-performance computing without placing an undue burden on a system’s power supply or cooling solution,” said Ton Steenman, General Manager of Intel’s Infrastructure Processor Division.
The SLT/SLI products feature a 667MHz front side bus, and the new processors have 2MB of L2 shared cache. The Intel® E7520 chipset configuration on the Trenton SLT/SLI boards provides a dual-channel DDR2-400 memory interface capable of supporting 8GB of memory with a maximum memory bandwidth of 6.4GB/s. Edge connectors on the SHBs provide two x8 PCI Express links, one x4 PCI Express link and five PCI Express reference clocks on edge connectors A and B. The PCI Express links provided by the SHBs are capable of supporting communication to x1, x4, x8 and x16 PCI Express cards as well as PCI/PCI-X option cards via a PCI Express-toPCI/PCI-X bridge chip on an SHB Express-compatible backplane.
Other SLT/SLI board features include dual SATA/150 interfaces, quad USB 2.0 connections, dual 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet ports, on-board video and an optional I/O expansion board for legacy I/O support.
