TRENTON Technology Introduces New PCI Express™ Backplane Trenton BPX6806 Backplane Supports Eighteen PCI Express Cards Atlanta, GA – Trenton is pleased to announce the availability of the BPX6806 PICMG® 1.3 backplane. This server-class PICMG 1.3 (SHB Express™) backplane is designed to support up to eighteen (18) PCI Express® option cards. The BPX6806 backplane also supports the latest multi-core, multi-processor PICMG 1.3 system host boards such as the Trenton MCXseries of SHBs. Supporting up to eighteen PCI Express edge cards is a key attribute in today's demanding call center, telecommunication, data storage, unmanned aircraft, instrumentation and many other industrial computing applications. "Many different types of PCI Express option cards (i.e. edge cards) are now readily available. This industry conversion trend to PCI Express will continue and many of our customers are taking full advantage of the high-speed, high-bandwidth, scalable PCI Express serial interface by migrating their diverse and demanding computing applications over to PCI Express," explained Jim Renehan, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Trenton Technology. "Trenton's BPX6806 backplane uses the latest in PCI Express switch technology to provide the PCI Express backplane slot count needed by our customers while providing the highest speed, lowest latency and most reliable PCI Express interfaces possible." "The two IDT 89HPES48T12 48-lane, 12-port PCI Express switches used on the Trenton BPX6806 backplane provide a very efficient method of connecting PCI Express cards to a PICMG 1.3 system host board and offer line-rate performance with minimal data latency," said Kam Eshghi, Director of Marketing at IDT. "Trenton has leveraged the IDT overall switch capacity, throughput performance and industry leading switch port density and scalability to meet their demanding backplane switching needs."
