TRENTON Technology Introduces T4L Graphics-Class SHB Trenton's New T4L SHB Features the Intel® Pentium® 4 651 Processor, Intel® 945G Chipset and the Intel® ICH7R I/O Controller Hub. Atlanta, GA – The T4L graphics-class system host board (SHB) is the latest addition to Trenton’s growing line of SHB ExpressTM or PICMG® 1.3 compatible products. The PCI ExpressTM (PCIe) links designed into the T4L support the high-speed PCI Express interface methodology between the SHB and backplane defined in the PICMG 1.3 industry standard. The T4L’s graphics-class PCIe link configuration supports PCI Express graphics and video cards, including the latest ADD2 cards. Other types of PCI Express cards, as well as 32bit/33MHz PCI option cards, are supported directly by the T4L on a PICMG 1.3 compatible backplane. The T4L also supports 64-bit PCI and PCI-X cards on backplanes with the appropriate PCI Express-to-PCI-X bridge chip technology. The Intel® Pentium® 4 651 processor is featured on the T4L. This is a long-life processor produced using a 65nm manufacturing process. The processor offers key features such as an 800MHz front side bus, 2MB of L2 cache and Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology. Pairing the Intel® Pentium® 4 651 processor with the Intel® 945G Chipset and the Intel® ICH7R I/O Controller Hub produces an SHB with an impressive feature set to tackle today’s demanding computing applications. The Intel® 945G and the Intel® ICH7R also feature long-life product support from Intel®. This component combination enables dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, eight USB 2.0 ports and a 4GB, dual-channel DDR2-667 memory interface. Dual SATA2 drive capability is supported by the Intel® ICH7R featuring Intel® Matrix Storage Technology and enables RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 implementations using the Trenton T4L system host board. “Trenton’s newest system host board offers the embedded computing industry a platform built on some of the latest Intel technology”, said Phil Ames, Segment Marketing Manager Intel®. “The combination of the Intel® Pentium® 4 651 Processor, the Intel® 945G Chipset and the Intel® ICH7R I/O controller on the T4L board provides Trenton Technology customers with validated, high performance building blocks to meet the challenges of a wide variety of applications.”

Other T4L Features The T4L’s LGA775 socket supports a wide variety of additional Intel® processor options. The front side bus on the T4L supports 533MHz, 800MHz and 1066MHz processor options. Processors supported on the T4L also include the new dual core Intel® Pentium® D and the Intel® Celeron® D. The two DDR2 DIMM sockets on the T4L have a maximum capacity of 4GB. The dual channel memory interface supports non-ECC PC2-3200, PC2-4200 or PC2-5400 DIMMs. The x16 PCI Express and x4 links on edge connectors A and B of the T4L support PCI Express video and graphics cards, ADD2 cards and general purpose option cards on a PICMG 1.3 compatible backplane. Trenton T4L customers can elect to use the internal video connection on the SHB instead of a card connected to the x16 PCI Express link. This video option is driven by the chipset’s Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Standard T4L configurations support two 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet LAN ports and two USB 2.0 ports on the I/O bracket of the T4L. An additional 10/100Base-T Ethernet port and two USB ports are routed to the SHB’s edge connector C for optional use on a PICMG 1.3 compatible backplane. Two additional USB ports can also be routed to the backplane with a factory build option. The T4L supports the optional edge connector D defined in the PICMG 1.3 industry standard. Edge connector D provides a 32-bit/33MHz PCI interface to the backplane to support legacy 32-bit/33MHz PCI option card slots and PCI-to-ISA bridge chips. This capability is useful when it is cost prohibitive to design out an older or purpose-built ISA option card. Pricing and Availability The T4L is available now with a list price of $1,791. Pricing and processor speed availability varies. Contact Trenton for the latest information on pricing discounts as well as volume and OEM purchase programs.
