Participants will learn about Best Practices of former grant recipients. The 2009 Neighborhood Partnership Grants Program is a collaborative sponsorship of The Columbus Foundation, United Way of Central Ohio, National City, Bob Evans and the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations. Focus: Safe & Descent Housing - homeownership education, repairs, energy efficiency programs, financial education, predatory lending prevention, blight, vacant housing issues and more. Over 650,000 individuals are released from state and federal prisons and more than 7 million from local U.S. jails yearly. This course will provide grant seeking tips for community organizations assisting those exoffenders re-entering the community. Research and registration for these opportunities will be discussed and outlined for participants.

RETURNING HOME: BARRIERS FOR EX-OFFENDERS

For individuals convicted of a crime, the consequences can last much longer and have a greater impact than the court-imposed sentence. A panel will discuss the legal barriers to reentry imposed by Ohio law which include restrictions on property rights, employment eligibility, and civil rights.
