Warm Up Activity #1 STUCK IN THE MUD Duration Equipment Area Size Instructions
Variation and progression Teachable moment
10-15 minutes 1 ball per 2 participants Create a grid using cones to comfortably fit all your students • Variation of chasey or ‘IT’ • Students run around within designated area, half the students have balls, other half don’t. • 2 students are ‘IT’ and attempt to tag other students. • When students tagged they must stop immediately and become stuck in mud with feet apart. • To be freed from the mud a student must have a ball rolled between their legs. • If a student with a ball is tagged they stand feet in mud with ball above head, it cant be taken. • When ball is on floor any student can pick it up. • Pass between the 2 students – single or double Energy and enthusiasm Using and defending space
Organisation Set up rectangle to begin with extra markers on one side ready for skill development section
Key Teaching Points
Rollball 1. Slam 2. Step Pass - Flat 1. Step 2. Shift 3. Flick
Stages
Stage 1 – this is because it was just about controlling our bodies and the ball L – 5 peole without ball to grab cones and mimic him in a line E – 1 ball per every 2 people and 30 cones S – 5x5m per square and there were 10 squares T – 5 minutes Progressions: 1. Get tagged à perform a rollball à tagger gets the ball 2. Get tagged à pass the ball to the tagger à now you have to chase others
How is LEST Organised? Extra Things to Consider
1
3. Get tagged à pass the ball back and forth twice à tagger is still the taggerà swap after 30 seconds 4. We also increased the area Lesson Objectives: 1. Appropriate touching (shoulder, back and side of hip) 2. Teach the correct technique for the rollball

5 minutes 1 ball per 2 participants Create a grid using cones to comfortably fit all your students • Student stand with ball on their head, hands on the buttock • Drops head forward moves hands to catch ball behind back Catch behind back Focus and concentration Peer teaching Fundamental movement skills Free Space with rectangle
1. Listen to the whistle 2. Spread out 3. Be careful with partners There’s no real KTP’s for the actual skill here besides bending down to stretch the hamstrings Stage 1 – this is because it was just about controlling our bodies and the ball L – learners into partners E – 1 ball per partner and only need 4 cones to mark out area but we used 30 cones because it was set up for the following drills S – Large grassed area with space for everyone to move about T – 5 minutes maximum Organisation 1. 1 whistle à change direction 2. 2 whistles à change movement pattern Lesson Objectives 1. Increase participation 2. Add dynamic stretching into warm up Progression 2
1. 2. 3. 4.
Bend over and flicking over head Passing up and down Passing round and round Combining all of the above
GRID SET UP FOR CLASS
Activity #1
TRIANGLE PASSING Duration 5-10mins Equipment Groups of 3 1 ball between 3 Area Size 5m x 5m grid Instructions • Students form a triangle in grid • Passing ball around triangle using correct technique Variation and • Move to square progression • Change of direction • Change of length of pass • Add competition Organisation: Student select grid Student establish a triangle 3
Use small square grid Teacher moves around and through grid 5m x 5m Key Teaching Points
Stages How is LEST Organised?
Extra Things to Consider
Flat Pass 1. Step 2. Shift 3. Flick Spiral Pass 1. Step 2. Shift 3. Roll Stage 1 – because it does not have any strategy or scoring implemented into the drill L – Students were organised into groups of 3 (we had extra so we also had one group of 4) E – 4 cones per group (groups can share 2 cones) as well as 1 ball per group S – 5mx5m square per group T – 5-10 minutes Lesson Objectives 1. Students are able to pass from both left or right sides 2. They know the KTP’s to step, shift and flick Progressions 1. Start with the usual and passing and running to keep the ball in the middle 2. Swap to opposite side to make sure that student is passing on both dominant and non-dominant side 3. Progress to not hacing to go a certain direction à players can choose who to pass to and whether to make the other player run
Activity #2

5-10mins 4
Equipment Area Size Instructions
Variation and progression Teachable moment
Groups of 3 1 ball between 3 5m x 5m grid • Students work in pairs to move ball around in side grid • Keep ball away from the defender • Change positions if pass not completed • Correct passing technique only ?? Tag of player with ball
Creating Space Decision making Organisation: Student select grid Use small square grid Student establish a triangle 5m x 5m Teacher moves around and through grid Key Teaching Flat Pass Points 1. Step 2. Shift 3. Flick Spiral Pass 1. Step 2. Shift 3. Roll Stages Stage 1 – closed skill Could be level 2 if you added a defender in How is LEST L – Students were organised into groups of 3 (we had extra so we Organised? also had one group of 4) E – 4 cones per group (groups can share 2 cones) as well as 1 ball per group S – 5mx5m square per group T – 5-10 minutes Extra Things to Lesson Objectives Consider 1. Think about where to go 2. Begin talking strategy

Extra Things to Consider
10mins Groups of 3 1 ball per group 10m x 5m • 2 offensive players, 1 defensive player (rotate) • 2 offensive players start on end line of grid • 1 defensive player starts in centre of grid • Offense players objective is to score a try, they can either pass or run through depending on their decision • Defence attempts to tag player with ball or intercept pass Add in touch and play offside rule Decision making Spacing Use 2 vertical grids together Leave space between grids for next drill Flat Pass 1. Step 2. Shift 3. Flick Spiral Pass 1. Step 2. Shift 3. Roll Rollball 1. Slam 2. Step Stage 3 – because it is defensive and offensive strategies L – Learners into DIFFERENT groups of 3 than the group we started off with E – 1 ball per group of 3 and 6 cones per group of 3 S – 10mx5m grid T – 10 minutes Lesson Objectives 1. Introduce the dummy-half rule 2. Make sure they understand that the ball has to travel backwards and be given demonstrations of what a backwards pass looks like Progressions 1. Passing à we tried to score a touchdown with the defender at the 5m mark (introducing that rule) and making sure the ball goes backwards 2. From a tap à started with a tap to make it more like game play
6
3. From a rollball à starting with a rollball and if you got tagged you had to perform a rollball
LESSON OBJECTIVE FOR MARK
1. Demonstrate and implement the rule that in touch football, the ball is to be passed backwards. This will be assessed by teacher observation and giving KTP’s to students that seem to be struggling 2. Demonstrate the abiliy to score in a 2 on 1 situation 3. Apply understanding of spatial awareness on offense to draw a player and pass to score a try 4. Evaluate and review implementive startagies on offensive strategies

Extra Things to Consider
Groups of 3 1 ball per group 10m x 5m • 2 offensive players, 1 defensive player (rotate) • 2 offensive players start mid way on right marker • 1 defensive player starts mid way on left marker • Offensive players run 1 way, defensive players run opposite direction around marker at end of playing area • Offense players objective is to score a try, they can either pass or run through depending on their decision • Defence attempts to tag player with ball or intercept pass Add in touch and play offside rule Decision making Spacing Use 2 vertical grids together Leave space between grids for safety Flat Pass 1. Step 2. Shift 3. Flick Spiral Pass 4. Step 5. Shift 6. Roll Stage 3 because the drill contained offensive and defensive strategies L – Learners were organised into groups of 10. One each side of the court was 6 people and 4 people in the other E – 6 cones per group of 10 and 2 balls (to keep the pace going quickly) S – 10mx5m per group à groups start at the middle cone and run to opposite end cones T – 10 minutes Progressions 1. Make the runners run from different sides so it makes the defender less lazy and the passer pass from both they domininant and non dominant side (you need to be able to do both in touch football Learning Objectives 1. Be able to pass from both sides 2. Be tapping the bowl down when scoring a touch down 3. Run and create space in play 4. Use offensive and defensive strategies to better your own game play
