The Tao is the Godhead By Anthony J. Fejfar, B.A., J.D., Esq., Coif © Copyright 2009 by Anthony J. Fejfar Previously, I have argued that the Tao is the Silent God. Others might say that the Tao is not God at all. Upon reflection, I assert that it is better to say that the Tao is the Godhead. In the Tao te Ching, Lao Tzu, says that before there was God, there was the Tao, that is, the Godhead. The Tao is inactive action. The Tao moves without moving. Now, some Philosophers of God have argued that Being is the Godhead. But, I assert that it is better to say that the relational unity of Being, Logos, and Substance, is the Tao or Godhead. This, then, is a Trinitarian Godhead, not one which utilizes only one aspect of the Trinity. The Tao, or Godhead is the Metaphysical Trinity which precedes God. The Tao or Godhead is God, prior to Personhood, where “God” is a Process not Persons. Mystics find the Tao or Godhead, not God, and then in turn manifest God. The Tao, or Godhead, is a Way of Being, which is integrated in Consciousness. The Tao is the Way or Flow. The Tao is Metaphysical Process or Godhead which precedes God. In Matthew Fox’s Book, “Breakthrough, Meister Eckhart’s Creation Spirituality in New Translation,” Matthew Fox presents Meister Eckhart’s treatment of the Godhead, found in Eckhart’s Sermon Three. In that Sermon, Eckhart says, “Everything within the Godhead is unity, and we cannot speak about it. God accomplishes, but the Godhead does not do so, and there is no deed within the Godhead. The Godhead never goes searching for a deed.” Thus, Eckhart’s discussion of the Godhead and Lao Tzu’s

discussion of the Tao are the same. The Tao or Godhead does not act, the Tao or Godhead Flows Process. There are no deeds or acts within the Tao or Godhead, because the Tao or Godhead is Flow Movement, not deed or action. The Tao or Godhead Moves Reality without causation. The Tao or Godhead is unity, because the unifying aspect or principle is Substance, or Absolute Relationality. Those who attempt to worship the Tao or Godhead are damned, instead, you must place your Consciousness in the Flow of the Tao or Godhead.
