The Social Democratic Party of America and Labor Unions By Anthony J. Fejfar, B.A., J.D., Esq., Coif © Copyright 2009 by Anthony J. Fejfar The Social Democratic Party of America is both for Social Responsibility of Business and also for Labor Unions. Social Responsibility of Business requires that management has as its’ goal Long Term Profit Maximization and not Short Term Profit Maximization.
It is clear that Labor Unions can join with management and share this
goal. Labor Unions must also seek to maximize profits for Labor Unions Members in the Long Run, and reject Short Term Profit Maximization. Union Shop Stewarts should be either Foreman or Middle Management representing both the management point of view as well as the Union point of view. Union Shop Stewarts should have law degrees with undergraduate courses in management and mediation, as well as having knowledge in the technical areas needed for the Union Job..
Union Shop Rules must meet the
requirements of the Substantive Due Process Test, so that they can be struck down in Federal Court if they are not reasonable. Shop Stewarts should be chairing Union “Idea” Groups whose job is to come up with new ideas to improve the performance of the business where they work.
Idea Groups who come up with new ideas which promote
the business should be rewarded for their participation. Finally, Federal Reserve Economic Development Money should be used to fund Workfare Programs which could pay for on the job training for Union Apprentices who can later become Journeyman at full wages.
