April Special Edition
The Cheerful Cicada What do you know about the Cicada? Well, it’s a very special and friendly bug. Tell me, would you ever wait nine or twelve years to see a friend back? That’s just what happens when you meet a cicada! Every summer, particularly from mid-March throughout April, the fields and woods are crowded with adults cicadas. Can you imagine hearing all the voices of a chorus singing together? Their chirpy melodies fill the air early in the morning and in the evenings with great intensity. They fly from trees to trees. I may say that this is the love season for Cicadas mate and hatch almost 300 to 400 little white eggs under the ground. Then it takes 7 to 12 or more years, depending on the species, for a new generation of Cicadas to spring from the earth giving summer its characteristic chirpy welcome. We may agree that it is just a wonderful gift of God!
