The Chicago Convention also known as the Convention on International Civil Aviation, can greatly help to create and preserve friendship and understanding among the nations and peoples of the world, yet its abuse can become a threat to the general security and was signed on 7 December 1944 and concerned the Sovereignty of States, the right to fly, the obligation of States’ to provide infrastructure, Safety, and Security. The Convention included Five Freedoms • • • •
Right to over-fly another State’s territory without landing; Right to put down for technical reasons; Right to put down passengers, mail, and cargo taken on in the territory of the the +aircraft possesses; Right to take on passengers etc destined for the territory of another agreeing nation and to put down passengers etc coming from any such territory.
