The Better Battery

THE BETTER BATTERY PROBLEM: Which brand of battery lasts longer? HYPOTHESIS: I think that if we use the Eveready battery brand then it will last longer.

Experimental Design CONTROLLED VARIABLES: •amount of energy a battery contains •appliances used •state and condition of the appliances used MANIPULATED VARIABLE: •brand of battery RESPONDING VARIABLE: •amount of time a battery lasts

MATERIALS: •2 flashlights •2 radios •4 AA Eveready batteries •4 AA Energizer batteries PROCEDURE: 1. Label one flashlight as “Eveready” and the other as “Energizer”. Repeat the instructions with the radios. 2. Turn on the flashlights simultaneously and then wait for each to die out. This may take a while. Record the results. 3. Repeat Step # 2 with the radios. Record the results 4. Tabulate your results
