Bestiary Bestiary is a tangling story of girl who went to visit her relatives (Funes family) for the summer out of the country. The main character is Isabel seems to be very intelligent and observant girl notices many things in the house especially between Rema and the Kid. Her first strange observance of the two was at night when she was heading to bed. Rema came to give Kid a cup of coffee. When Kid takes the cup from Rema, he touches her fingers. Fearing his strange behavior, Rema pulls away her hand. This is observed by Isabel. Isabel is surprised by this strange happening. One day Isabel sees Rema’s hand near the ant farm and imagines that the ants are crawling on her hand. Rema compares this imaginary thought to strange the incident between Rema and Kid. Isabel thinks that there is an indifferent and strange relationship between the two. So one day while going to the kitchen, Kid request Isabel to inform Rema to prepare and bring lemonade in his room. She again finds this very strange. Isabel conveys this message to Rema and learns from Rema that she is ready prepare the lemonade, but is reluctant to go with it to Kids room. She requests Isabel to carry it to Kid. Isabel is convinced that there is something strange going on between Rema and Kid. There appears some sort of sexual abuse on the part of Kid towards Rema. The story is based on the fact that there is a tiger roaming freely where Isabel is staying for the summer. This fact she conveys to her mother through letters. In reality the tiger is an abstract entity that is used to convey unpleasant and traumatizing facts of life. In reality, kid signifies the tiger. The very presence of Kid terrifies Rema. This is true because Kid is not afraid to inflict physical violence when he is angered or when things do not go his way. For example when Nino accidently breaks the window with the ball hitting it. At this point Kid grabs Nino and starts hitting him. Even while hitting Nino, Kid is seen staring angrily at Rema. As Isabel admires Rema, she tries to take revenge on Kid. The conclusion of the story leads us to believe that if we continue to prolong ignoring our tensions and problems, then it is a mystery whether they will solve on its own or it will only compound them.
