The Achievements of the Saints Jean Cooke 1
The Achievement of the Saints
The Two Harvests Rev. 14:14-20
After the fifth and sixth angels’ messages John’s instruction is to turn to the achievement of the saints, before covering the return of the 4th angel and the final call of the 7th angel. This is clearly stated in Rev. 14. 12, 13, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, …” Now let’s turn to the work of the saints which involves two harvests.
The First Harvest Rev. 14:14-16 – The Harvest of the Earth. “And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.” Rev. 14:14-16. The catastrophic trilogy of Rev. 14:6-11 (three angel’s woes) is presented, disregarded and made light of as frivolity, by “believers” throughout Christendom. They see no relevance in the warnings, paying no heed…to the opening of the book. Further elaborating this record of the Lord’s day (spiritual day-ofatonement), John presents the heavenly operatives busy with their all- encompassing activity with harvest, amidst vehement opposition. Following each harvest was a feast of joyous and uplifting celebration of construct. The harvest of the first fruits was indicative of the victory of the God-given presence within humankind above and beyond other living forces. It related to the interconnectedness in all things, be it practical, oral or written, looking backward, looking now or looking forward. Recalling the harvest of the barley and wheat – see Duet. 16:9, 10 – a type - corn from QAMAH = something that rises, i.e. a stalk of grain:- (standing) corn, grown up, stalk – grace. This celebration was 50 days after Passover. It was the feast of weeks or feast of Pentecost. Following seven weeks of harvest = 49 days, the 50th day was the day of the new meat offering. The model is recorded in Lev. 23: 15-17 and points to the wonderful world of God’s ever evolutionary beneficence bringing all things together. Such a celebration was a part of the special feasts and offerings over six months of each sacred year as distinct from the civil year. Being a practical representation, the harvest feast of O.T. days pointed forward to an ultimate innate reality. It was a respect for life. There was certainly a new meat offering in the positive contribution brought by the apostles leaving Judaism, travelling to the Western world. This is 2
narrated in the coming of the Holy Spirit. The apostles, the resurrected Body, introduced a new and lasting perceptiveness to many peoples in distant lands. This new meat offering, this new creationconstruct, formerly said to be unknown outside old Israel, soon spread its advance rapidly across Europe “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men” was its banner. The Gospel protagonist, Jesus, teaching in parables said, “the harvest is the end of the world.” Matt. 13.39. Exactly what world was here cited? “As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire so shall it be in the end of this world.” Matt. 13:40. “This world” is, parabolically speaking, “the kingdom of heaven” to the Jews. The disciples came and said unto him (Jesus) “Why speakest unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” Matt. 13: 10,11. This harvest portrayed the end of the world of Judaism. Written for all generations, this harvest of the grains, is a judgment scene, a tutorial, giving all an individual space for decision – which way forward – indoctrination, a dormant mind (tares), or invigorating pedagogical orientated activity (wheat)? In Roman days, the harvest implicitly written applied to the Jew first, see Rom. 1:15. Transcendently and explicitly applicable to the circumcised heart in this era. The fruit of refraction is characterized by the graphic coming of the Holy Ghost, now or Pentecostal Body, the apostles, to proselytise the Western world.
The Second Harvest Rev. 14:17-20 – Latter Grapes The second harvest of Rev. 14 is that of the latter grapes. The feast of tabernacles or ingathering followed, “at year’s end.” “After that thou hast gathered in the corn (wheat and barley harvest of weeks – Deut. 16:6) and thy wine” Deut. 16:13. Commencing in the 7th month Tishri the pattern in the sanctuary service is noted in Lev. 23: 39-44. Designed to last until the little local form would fulfil spiritually, then eventually in the great global consummation, archetype. God’s wrath would then be poured out upon the terminally recalcitrant. “And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle.” Rev. 14:17 An angel is prepared to gather the clusters of the vine of the earth. What happened to the vine in the Book of Jeremiah. God is protesting to the Jews that they cause their own calamities. “I planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned unto a degenerate plant of a strange wine unto me?” Jer. 2:21. And “Israel is an empty vine.” – Hos. 10:1. “And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe.” Rev. 14:18 This angel comes from the Most Holy place, from the golden altar in the Levitical tabernacle - a type. See Exod. 26:33, “bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony: and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy.” Regarding “an altar to burn incense”, “though shalt put it before (PANCH = in front of, in forefront, and PANAH = to face) the vail that is by the ark of the testimony.”
3
The golden altar of the Most Holy place is where abides the very divine presence of inspiration, arising with the sweet incense of tender loving care. The angel coming from such sacredness, has power over consuming words of fire, and shall devour those who say “the prophets shall become wind and the word is not in them.” With mighty strength he cries to the reaper, “it is the season to thrust in the sharp sickle.” The day of reconciliation is passed. The God of creativity is wrath with those who have corrupted mankind, the greatest work of the divine-creation. Now those dead to the uplifting spirited life must be judged. “Thrust in thy sickle” is the directive. “For her grapes are fully ripe.” Rev. 14:18 indicates a time for exodus. The ark and the golden altar within the Most Holy place represent the heart and mind of the operatives in unison, interconnected, whole, together, one – a perfect reflection. Church doctrine indicates that the golden altar in the Levitical sanctuary was in the “holy place” and not the “Most Holy”. However, “Before the veil” refers to within the “Most Holy”. Evidence of this is given, “And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid around with gold, wherein was the golden pot, that had the manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant:” – Heb. 9:3,4. The manna is the spiritual food that nourished the heart and mind together. Further, Rev. 9 gives more insight, “And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,” the Shechinah, that is in the Holiest of all. “And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.” Rev. 8:3. And in Ex. 30:6, “And thou shall put it (an altar to burn incense upon) before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee.” To not understand the combined role of the mind and heart as one is dumbfounding. Cannot be apart, they exist where God dwells always. And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. Rev. 14:19 Yes, the angel thrust in his sickle – DREPANON = a curved blade, and gathered the vine of a lost world, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. The unrepentant were mortally wounded by commerce, and driven by the relentless glee of ecclesiasticism according to Rev. 18. A few quotations confirm this point, “all the merchants of the earth shall weep” as the merchandise is bought no more, “merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, precious wood and slaves.” And not least, “souls of men.” Too late now for a celebration of harvest and ingathering. John’s message moves quickly. The great voice out of the temple of heaven has said, “It is done.” It is done and the angel is ready to cast in his sickle to the earth. Faithful and true does judge and make war, “and out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword that he should smite the nations.” Sword = RHOMPHAIA – sabre, curved blade. “And he treadeth the vine press of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God” – his name King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. There is no escape. And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs Rev. 14:20 A tremendous scene of devastating consequences envelops, “blood even unto the horse’s bridles.” But what is the thousand and six hundred furlongs, what is this? As with all Bible references, the rhythm is traceable, the extension must have a root for all is interconnected. It is interesting to see an accurate base in 2 Macc. 12. Without locating the base types the melodies or harmonics are blurred.
4
The faithful untethered remnant of Rev. 12:17 have a concluding work to achieve, akin to the Maccabean army against the mighty Japhetic and Arabian forces. In principle it is the same battle but in Revelation at a more advanced level, where all oral and written language recollections merge. The Apocalypse seeks out the perfect illustrative account to align with the disastrous end of the enemies of the servants of our God and his Christ. Used as a prefiguration the following excerpts taken from 2 Macc. 12 conclusively show, beyond all doubt, the exactness of the early writers of a philosophy of history. Perhaps spiritual advisors may be interested. “He (Judas) came upon the Jamites also by night and set fire on the haven and the nay, so that the light of the fire was seen at Jerusalem two hundred and forty furlongs off.” Please read 2 Macc. 12:9-29: 12:9 12:10 12:16 12:17 12:29
furlongs - “the light of the fire was seen at Jerusalem, 240 furlongs off” furlongs – “nine furlongs in their journey towards Timotheus” furlongs – “unspeakable slaughters, in so much that a lake two furlongs broad…was seen” furlongs – “departed they from thence seven hundred and fifty furlongs” furlongs – “thence they departed to Scythopoles which lieth six hundred furlongs from Jerusalem” 1601 Furlongs in Total 240 9 2 750 600
The blood flows from the horses bridles for a space of 1600 hundred furlongs! This compilation is another recurring type behind the archetype application and shows the writers’ cognitive sophistication – touching all recess of the psyche it connects the pattern in all entities from generation to generation, not reinventing the wheel but casting it anew. Their thoughts shine through the realization of their unique style of writing, “here a little and there a little.” It was their way to access knowledge for comprehensive insight of the power of all events through time. It is how the divineadvanced activates consciousness, divinity constructing within living beings. Initially oral, then in written word the repertoire of recollection blooms. The innateness God required documentation, codified, traditionalized in style, an amazing pedagogical weapon. Applying the form of former, drawing on the earlier to not only understand the present but the likely future form and substance. It became the cornerstone of ongoing advancement, mastered by the Saints and misunderstood by the populace – the bow of the covenant unknowingly sprung. These papers have traced many type-antitypearchetype applications entwined and embedded within ancient writings, raising the bar of perfected interconnectedness. Ezekiel put it this way. The heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. The word came expressly unto Ezekiel, the hand of the Lord was there upon him. A whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud and a fire unfolding itself, and a brightness was about it…out of the midst there came the likeness of the four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man (intelligent). Everyone had four faces and everyone had four wings (they could fly in the midst of heaven). Their feet were straight (upright), soul of feet like calf’s (animal-level not forgotten) they sparkled like brass. They had the hands of a man under their wings (dexterous). Their wings were joined one to 5
another. (They were united in spirit.) They four had the face of a man, face of a lion, on the right side (right-handed and strong). The four had the face of an ox, on the left-side; they four also had the face of an eagle (comprehensive insight in all). They went everyone straight forward (continually advancing): whither the spirit was to go, they went, and they turned not when they went. (A well-planned, coordinated work). The above was taken from Eze. 1:1-12. Commencing Eze. 1:15, I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. Ezekiel now explains the wheels, “and they four had one likeness and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel…and they turned not when they went. This chapter describes the throne of God, and the unity of all who participate in the work of restoring the human conscience that mankind may be wholesome and perfect and prosperous. “And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.” Rev. 19:17, 18. This is a celebration offered to the irredeemable. With knowledge of the two harvests the activities of the Saints in Rev. 10-11 are concurrent.
Revelation 10 The Work of the Saints Continues During divine harvest much elevation and sifting converts expectations. “And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,” Rev. 10:1-2. This angel is first mentioned, by the fugitive, in Rev. 1.7, “he cometh with clouds.” It is regarding the judgment scene of Rev. 14:14 where the angel comes at the beginning of the first harvest ,“I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of Man…” The angel’s kindred spirit (blood), by the example of their lives, contributed to our understanding of the necessity of victory. The promise of redemption, in the symbol of a rainbow, is also referenced in this verse. This rainbow is metaphorically detailed - “And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.” Gen. 9:1115.

The innate power commissioning us, stewards of the reins of grace, has promised to ever protect those who loyally fulfil wholesome preferment. With the little book open the powerful angel is concerned with the wickedness of the beasts from the sea and the earth. “And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.” Rev. 10:3-4. Seven messengers uttered their voices and John was about to write these, but told, “No”. The seven messages are the work of the seven angels. This was a recall in type at the termination of terrible persecution by Antiochus Epiphanes, writing prophetically (to present a spiritual application) the book was sealed “to the time of the end,” wrote Daniel 12:4. Now the Revelator introduces archetype’s “time of the end.” With the heart thumping woeful trilology of Rev, 14 botched and disregarded the sixth angel declared, “It is done.” This is the time appointed, the time of the end of reconciliation and the power of the holy people EKKLESIA is scattered (dispersed, untethered). It is now time to question the woeful interpretation that the rambling church sets as food. “And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: “ Rev.10:5-6. In ancient striking explanation the Patmos fugitive draws upon Daniel’s report, as he (Daniel) sees the angel lift up his hands to heaven. “And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.” Dan. 12:7. “ But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.” Rev. 10:7. The days of the voice of the seventh angel (trumpet) sounded. Rev. 11:15. The mystery of God should be finished, a time appointed for each to decide their veneration. Do we now comprehend the long held mystery of God? Would it be the God of creativity, Lord God of Hosts – Almighty, or the threatening decrees of the satanic beast – the dragon called the Devil – the call to trust the church fathers, the beast, and the false prophet? The seventh trumpet (Rev.11.15), simultaneous with the 5th angel’s message (Rev. 14:9-11), shows many earnest souls remain in darkness, or confused. How can they be helped? “A voice from heaven” offers a solution.
“And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. And 7
I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. “Rev. 10:8-10. Suffice it to say, John’s facsimile here is inscribed in the Book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel, meaning God is strong, a captive in Babylon, records his experience - “but thou son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like the rebellious house; (Israel) open thy mouth, and eat what I give thee. And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein; And he opened it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. Eze. 2:8-10. Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. And he said unto me, son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee, for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hard hearted. And go thee to them of the captivity unto the children of thy people and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord, God; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.” Eze. 3:1-4,7,11.
And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.” Rev. 10:11. Former preaching was based on the falsehood of idolatry. “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.” Will the God fearing children of today take heed? Prefiguratively speaking Ezekiel noted, “they are impudent children and stiff hearted; they are a rebellious house.”
Revelation 11 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Rev. 11:1,2. To “prophecy again” is akin to the Jews leaving Babylonian captivity and returning to their homeland to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple. To ensure precision John was given a measuring gauge to assess character, heart and sincerity. Figuratively, the perfect measurements are established in Rev. 21:15. The court was not measured. It was given to the disbelievers as they were bent on destruction. For half a seven year they persecute the true people of the holy city. Daniel’s chapters 8 & 9 records an O. T. type. (Some details of Daniel’s were covered in Article 10.) With careful study, half a seven year period when expressed as forty and two months indicates, detrimental, mischievous behaviour. See Rev. 13:5 speaking of the work of the beast out of the sea.
8
“And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.” Rev. 11:3. The two witnesses prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days. (1260 days, again half a seven years.) Constructive work is here expressed. The woman, representing the honest servants of God, is fed the hidden manna in the wilderness, a thousand two hundred and three score days. Rev. 12:6. This period was of special offerings and feasts in O.T. sanctuary service. Six months of each sacred year for seven years, demonstrated the sacrificial course to redeeming liberty of the still small voice of conscience.
“ These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.” Rev. 11.4. The two witnesses are represented as two olive trees and two candlesticks (lights). John commences his revelation by writing, “John, who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ,” interprets the two witnesses. The Patmos fugitive now aligns these impressions with a vision in the Book of Zechariah. Zechariah, talking to a messenger is asked, “What seest thou.” “And I said, I have looked and behold a candlestick all of gold, (only one candlestick in O.T. prior to the advent of the Messianic body) with a bowl upon the top of it, and seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof.” It is important to read Zech. 4:2-10. These verses explain Zerubbabel is the candlestick and how he had great success in laying the foundation of the temple, - a new foundation - a new creation. Now to contemplate the two olive trees and the two golden pipes which empty their golden oil into the candlestick of gold? “Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the left side thereof? And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No my lord. Then said he, These are the two anointed ones that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.” Zech. 4:11-14. To personify two O.T. appropriate characters, one could name Moses and Elijah. Fittingly both are present in the story of the transfiguration of Christ. Slight reference is made to the background of these two figures in Revelation.
“ And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.” Rev. 11:5. Here is a recall of Elijah. When Ahaziah enquired of Baalzebub, Elijah called down fire from heaven. See 2 Kings 1:10. The fire according to Jeremiah was, words in the mouth of the just. It would turn the unjust to wood and consume them. Jer. 5:14. Isaiah wrote, “the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and briers in one day.” Isa. 10:17. “These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. “ Rev. 11:6.
9
Similar circumstances are depicted in Elijah’s day. “Elijah prayed earnestly that it might not rain and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.” James 5:17. Turning water to blood, and smitting the earth with plagues, is clearly calling up the days of Moses. See Exd. 7:17 and Exd. 9:14. John discerns the reality of the O.T. representations recurring as the world of manipulative mind-control by ecclesiastical powers, nears termination.
“ And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.” Rev. 11.7. This verse alludes to the union of the two beasts who ascended out of the abyss (the depths) – see Rev. 13:15-18. Their dastardly, despicable, treatment of virtuous souls, who dared to prophesy again, is traced. Making war with the heavenly workers directs our minds to the text in Rev. 12:13. “And when the dragon saw that he was cast into the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man.” John writes, the beast “shall overcome them, and kill them” – “overcome” from NIKAO means subdue or more exactly, quell their very spirit and bring them under control by force. And “kill” from APOKTEION figuratively used to convey, vandalize the affirmation of loyal subjects – soul destroyers. “And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.” Rev. 11:8. Those made spiritless, deprived of self-expression, lie silent in the street of Christendom’s Jerusalem, a city of repressive decadence and calculated debauchery, lacking spiritual values. “They crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” Heb. 6:6. “Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood (HAIMA = kindred) of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” Heb.10:29. “And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. Rev. 11:9, 10. Universally there is a silence of the Word. People celebrate this taciturn environment because the true word of our God and testimony of his Jesus Christ plagued them. The dispirited lay speechless, three days and a half. The word “days” from HEMERA conveys, day, judgment day, years. Years could well be the correct word as James noted, “it rained not (as no showers of blessing) on earth by the space of three years and six months.” Three years and a half also parallels with the Gentiles treading the holy city underfoot forty and two months. Rev. 11:2. “ And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. Rev. 11:11,12. After this “famine of the word” Amos 8:11,12, “Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones, Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live.” Eze. 37:5. They became alive and brought great fear to 10
the impenitent who also heard the saints called to a higher more excellent moral level. This too the rebellious witnessed.
And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven. Rev. 11:13. This verse tersely covers the violent shaking of ruinous baneful dogma. Enormous vibrations leave satanic lies in rubble. Countless, ardent, entrenched convictions completely exterminated. Here “a tenth part” DEKATOS = a tithe, that which belongs to God “fell” PIPTO = alighted or lighted on. Confused inhabitants suddenly came to realize, as a truth alighted on them, a contemporary message, a new creation, became easier to understand. They had served a fallacious god, a teaching that “walked in lies,” “prophesied in Baal.” A small few, at the end of the age of deception, very afraid, “gave glory to the God of heaven, obeying the 3rd Angel’s message. The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly. Rev. 11:14 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. Rev. 11:15 The last trumpet sounded. Concerned individuals discuss the enlightening warning to arouse blind submission to authority and willful neglect of self-initiative. Realising if they did not mend their ways they would receive the wrath of God and have no rest day or night. This genre was not ignorant of the promise, “Today if ye will hear his voice.” They heard the lofty words, “The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our (re-introduced) Lord, and his Christ.” Note particularly the expressed change, our Lord and his Christ. Not now the idolized deity of the Christian religion. Not the manufactured personality of a principle. And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. Rev. 11:16-17. Remembering the Apocalypse is symbolically written the words used must be traced back to the original and interpreted in context. Both, four and twenty, are two symbols and need to be separately dealt with. Four – TESSAR = four indicating a universal situation e.g. four corners of the earth, four winds of earth. Rev. 7:1, four directions of the compass. And twenty elders – EIKOSO – score (origin uncertain). Hebrew 20 = ESIYM twenty. Ordinal, a number that refers to a position – twentieth:- (six) score, twenty(-ieth). The 24 in all being no fixed number is reflected correspondingly in Numbers 1:3 reading as elders or seniors before God today – “From twenty years old, and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel.” They are now the circumcised hearts. The honorable, the blameless, give thanks to God Almighty because with great ever-developing power, they reign. “ And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and 11
them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. “ Rev. 11:18. Presented here is a site of the great battle of God Almighty. “The Lord shall strike through kings in that day.” The time appointed is realised and the willingly dormant conscience should be determined. “And I saw the dead small and great stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works…” Rev. 20:12-15. Born dead, should we not fulfill a spiritual resurrection, we receive the second death. This is the day the heavenly host and all who revere the Lord God Almighty are recompensed. Those who corrupt humanity, both “profane prophet and priest shall perish.”
“And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.” Rev. 11:19 The heavenly temple opened. This is not referring to the O.T. model but, “know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God and ye are not your own.” 1 Cor. 6:19. In the Holiest in this temple is the golden censor containing the sweet tender incense of love and care, in the heart of the faithful worker. Also, the ark of the covenant protecting the very inner thoughts of each individual wherein also is the manna from heaven giving us wisdom and understanding. There is the high priest’s measuring rod of righteousness and peace. It will be used against the rebellious in their judgment. And the writings of the everlasting covenant, promise us our God will ever remain true to those who serve the Lord of hosts . They are the strongest. This covenant contains the overwhelming innate principles upon which the wonderful evolutionary system is built – compatibility – unison, working together.
