Vice Governor RAMON AG. BUNAGONG International Men’s Day November 20, 2018

The Provincial Government of Agusan Del Norte headed by the Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWD) in coordination with the Population Commission (POPCOM) CARAGA celebrates the International Men’s Day last November 20, 2018 at the Provincial Training Center, Capitol Compound, Butuan City. The activity start with the invocation followed by the national anthem then the introduction of the guest attendees, Board Member Elizabeth Marie R. Calo and Board Member Dick Victor B. Carmona. The keynote speaker of the activity is Population Commission (POPCOM) Regional Director Alexander A. Makinano, CESE. He focuses on Improving Gender Relations, Promoting Gender Equality, Producing Responsible Males and highlighting positive male role models. He also looks at addressing issues such as parenting, positive male role models, families and healthy life choices for men. According to Director Alexander A. Makinano, 76% of suicide victims are men, 85% of homeless are men, 70% of homicide victims are men, 40% of domestic abuse victims are men, the majority crime victim of violent crime men and on average, men serve 64% longer in prison men on average are 3.4% more likely to be imprisoned than women with both committed the crime. In the afternoon another speaker also from Population Commission (POPCOM) a registered Nurse, discuss the defferent methods of family planning, the proper way how to manage a happier family and gap of child for the protection of a mother’s life, and also demonstrate how to use a proper way of comdom and others contraceptives methods. The committee of this event also offers the participants pre haircut, massage, check-up for blood pressure and sugar level and deboning of milkfish. The activity end at 3:45 pm.
