Team Rockstar Suzuki OTSFF Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Vaughan, ON – June 15, 2009)

Top five finish for Tyler Medaglia in MX1 – Second overall for Jocelyn Killough in Women’s Nationals After a tentative start to the season at the opening round of the Canadian Motocross Nationals, Team Rockstar Suzuki OTSFF’s Tyler Medaglia rebounded at Round 2 of the MX1 title hunt in Calgary, AB this past weekend by claiming a noteworthy fourth overall thanks to consistent 5-4 motos. Jocelyn Killough repeated her Kamloops second overall in the Women’s National Championship, this time on the strength of 2-2 moto results. In the first MX1 moto, Medaglia rounded turn one around sixth place and quickly moved into fifth place, where he comfortably resided until he was passed by his teammate and brother Jeremy. The younger Medaglia, who DNFd both motos at Round 1, started around 20th place but charged through the pack on his explosive RM-Z450 EFI to make his way into fifth. But with three laps to go his strength started fading and he was repassed by Tyler as well as Bobby Kiniry. In moto two, Tyler again got a top start that saw him challenge for third place but an incident with a 20-foot trackside banner – which wrapped around his body – played havoc with him until he was finally able to free himself from the hindrance about 1/4 of the way around the track. Despite losing a few positions he managed to work his way back into fourth, where he settled for the rest of the moto. “This was a much better race for me than last weekend but it’s still not where I want to be,” said Tyler. “I know I have to start finishing on the podium and win some races if I’m going to have a say in the championship.” Another bad start hampered Jeremy that saw him finish the second moto in 14th place. Thanks to his seventh in the first, however, he still carded 11th overall picking up some valuable championship points along the way in his first MX1 season. “Considering my bad starts I think I did okay today. It would have been nice to finish at least tenth overall but what makes me happy is that I actually was able to finish both motos,” said Jeremy. “They were the first MX1 Championship motos that I didn’t end up on the sidelines. It can only keep getting better.”

Meanwhile, Kyle Keast, who finished fourth overall at Round 1, saw any hopes of a top five overall finish at Wild Rose MX Park evaporate after being betrayed by a flat tire in the first moto that saw him finish 16th. His top start went unrewarded due to the flat tire early in the race. Undaunted by his bad luck, he returned to the paddock to get the tire changed and got back into the fray one lap down to still claim a 16th place finish in the 32 rider field. In the second moto, Keast pegged a top ten start and was on the gas to connect with the front runners, when the back end of his bike stepped out spinning him around and down. By the time he got back into action he found himself around 15th place, which he managed to trade for a ninth place finish by the end of the moto, taking home 12th overall on the day. Killough, meanwhile, pulled out all the stops in the Women’s Nationals to secure runnerup in both motos aboard her RM-Z250. Although she was unable to challenge double moto winner Heidi Cooke, she successfully defended her second place position both times out. Despite going down on the last lap in the second moto, she still had enough of a gap on third place to remount and greet the checkered flag in second position. “It’s nice to stay consistent and we now have a big break in the schedule before Gopher, when the series resumes for us in the east,” said Killough. “I’ve got lots of time to get ready for that and I’m looking forward to racing on my home track. I should do well there.” Team Rockstar Suzuki OTSFF would like to thank the following sponsors for their valuable support: TAG, DeVol, Hart & Huntington, Rockwell Watches, Gaerne, Two Wheel Motorsports, Rivercity Cycle Kamloops and Gregoire Sports
