Teaching Rational Self Interest in the Public Schools By Anthony J. Fejfar, B.A., J.D., Esq., Coif © Copyright 2009 by Anthony J. Fejfar The Public Schools should be teaching Rational Psychology of Consciousness which follows Critical Thomism Psychology and Epistemology.
It does not violate the
De-establishment clause of the United States Constitution to teach Psychology of Consciousness in the Public Schools. Public Schools should educate for the Liberal Good of Order based upon Rational Self Interest.
Rational Self Interest includes Higher
Values such as Intellectual Love and Compassion as Spiritual Virtues. The Self of Rational Self Interest is the Jungian True Self or Existential Self, who a Person really is deep down inside. Rational Self Interest is Rational in that it includes rational self interest, but also higher values.
It is possible to teach Life after Death and the
Immortality of the Soul without referring to God at all.
Rational Self Interest also
includes the Liberal Scale of Values: 1. My Autonomy comes first, then, 2., my Rational Self Interest, 3. my cognitive Self-Transcendence, and my Wisdom.
Cognitive Self-Transcendence involves the Transcendental Precepts: 1. Be Attentive 2. Be Intelligent 3. Be Reasonable 4. Be Responsible 5. Be Loving
6. Be Compassionate If we educate in the Public Schools for the above Psychology of Consciousness we will produce happier, better adjusted, more mature student graduates.
