9/15/01 Jim,

Approx 3 minutes before an unknown aircraft hit the Pentagon, I was called into the radar room from the OSIC desk area, and was advised of a primary target about 10 miles west of DCA eastbound. The TYSON controller said that IAD had advised of or pointed out the target. We tracked the target and coordinated this aircraft's position with JOC on the USSS line at the departure coordinator position. The coordination with JOC was on a continuous basis until the aircraft was no longer in the air. We asked a passing aircraft to investigate and we were advised that the aircraft was a B757, this info was also passed to the JOC. I believe I got a call from IAD at the watch desk about this primary target but can't remember when or what I did with this information. Let me know if you need more info. Vic Padgett
