This is the debrief of a Minnesota Air National Guard C-130 crew from the 133 AW that diverted to Youngstown/Warren Regional Airport on 11 Sept 01 following the WTC bombings. This crew departed Andrews AFB on 11 Sept at 1332Z enroute to home station. Shortly after take off on a Westerly heading at about 3500'msl, Washington Center gave them a traffic advisory. The A/C acquired traffic which was at their approxmate altitude and identified the traffic as a Boeing 757 or 767. The traffic was in a turn and appeared to maneuver to avoid the MN ANG C130. The traffic rolled out on a NE heading. Washington Center called the MN ANG 130 and gave them a 080 heading with a decend to 2000msl and told them to follow the traffic. The A/C complied. Next the crew saw the traffic impact the west side of the Pentagon. The A/C called Washington Center and reported the crash. A/C said his 130 was TCAS equipped and it was operational, TCAS gave no traffic advisory. The FBI was notifed and they took statements from the crew.
