In preparation for reviewing CIA documents and interviewing CIA officials for purposes of the Commission's research, the Commission requests that its pertinent staffers receive a short series of classified orientation briefings from CIA representatives to provide an overview of the CIA's organizational structure and processes as they relate to counterterrorism prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks. For example, the briefings would cover:

(1) The CIA's overall organizational structure; (2) The CIA's basic processes of collection and analysis; and (3) The CTC's organizational structure and relationship to the Directorates of Operations and Intelligence and other U.S. Government departments and agencies prior to September 1 1 . These briefings would not constitute interviews but would be merely informational in nature. The identity of the briefers is not of concern to the Commission.
