ALARM LEVELS. THERE ARE THREE LEVELS OF ALARMS:A. CRITICAL ALARMS - REPRESENTS SERIOUS DEGRADATION OF SERVICE. B. MAJOR ALARMS -

NO DIRECT INFULENCE ON SERVICE.

C. MINOR ALARMS -

NO EFFECT ON SERVICE.

-

ALARM WITH HIGHEST PRIORITY FOR A FUNCTIONAL UNIT DISPLAY FIRST AT SYPD.

-

CRITICAL ALARM IF NOT ACCEPTED WITHIN 5 MINUTES, THE HORN SOUNDS AT MAXIMUM 7 VOLUME.

CRITICAL ALARMS IT REPRESENTS SERIOUS DEGRADATION OF SERVICE REQUIRES IMMEDIATE ACTION FROM O & M PERSONAL. THIS ALARM APPEARS WHEN ACTIVE & REDUNDANT EQUIPMENT HAVE FAILED . IN THIS TWO LEDS FLASH ALTERNATELY AND HORN SOUNDS CONTINUOUSLY. EXAMPLES: •

SN0 / SN1 HAVE FAILED & ONE OF THEM IS IN OPERATING STATE UNA.

BOTH DLU SYSTEM 0 & 1 HAVE FAILED & ONE OF THEM IS IN OPERATING STATE UNA.

CP TO SYPC INTERFACE IS FAULTY . 8

MAJOR ALARM •MAJOR ALARM HAS NO DIRECT INFULENCE ON SERVICE. •BUT THIS KIND OF ALARMS HAS TO BE TREATED IMMEDIATELY SINCE REDUNDANT SYSTEM UNIT HAS FAILED. •

IN THIS CASE LEFT LED OUT OF TWO LEDS AND SINGLE LED FLASH AND HORN GIVES A CLOCKED TONE OF 800/800 ms .

EXAMPLES. •

SN0 OR SN1 IS IN OPERATING STATE UNA.

ONE CCG IS IN OPERATING STATE UNA.

ONE SYPD IS FAULTY. 9

MINOR ALARM ON

MINOR ALARM HAS LITTLE OR NO INFLUENCE SERVICE.

IN THIS CASE HORN SOUNDS FOR 800 ms ONLY, SINGLE LED LIGHTS AND RIGHT LED OF THE TWO LEDS LIGHTS.

EXAMPLES: • -

ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FAULT HAS OCCURRED ON A PCM LINK OR IN A DLU. ALARM INDICATION SIGNAL IN MULTIFRAME. -ALARM INDICATION SIGNAL IN PULSE FRAME

10

FUNCTIONAL OVERVIEW OF SYSTEM PANEL SYSTEM PANEL CONSISTS OF :(I)

SYSTEM PANEL CONTROL (SYPC), WHICH IS HOUSED IN R:MB/ CCG

(II)

SYSTEM PANEL DISPLAY (SYPD) / (SYSD). THERE CAN BE A MAXIMUM OF 8 SYPDs. ONE IS CONFIGURED AS MASTER. HOWEVER SEVERAL OR ALL CAN BE CONFIGURED AS MASTER IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES. ALARMS AND INDICATIONS APPEAR SIMULTANEOUSLY ON ALL SYPDs. GENERALLY ONLY ONE SYPD IS PROVIDED 11

ACCEPT KEY IS PROVIDED ON EACH SYPD. PRESSING OF ACCEPT KEY STOPS THE AUDIBLE SIGNAL OF PARTICULAR SYPD. PRESSING ACCEPT KEY Of MASTER SYPD CAUSES AUDIBLE SIGNAL TO BE SWITHCED OFF CENTRALLY BY THE CO-ORDINATION PROCESSOR . IN CASE OF ALARM AT SYPD DUE TO FAULT, THE OBJECT CAN BE LISTED WITH

DISP ALARM IN CASE OF INDICATIONS, CAUSED BY CONFIGURATION OF HW UNIT TO STATE MBL OR CBL , THE LIST OF HWUNITS CAN BE DISPLAYED BY

SYSTEM PANEL CONTROL MODULES SYPC IS NOT DUPLICATED & IS INSTALLED IN F: SYPC

IOC: SYPC IT IS USED TO CONNECT SYPC TO CP . ON THIS INTERFACE IT RECEIVES NECESSARY DATA FROM CP. IT USES THESE DATAS TO DETERMINE SIGNALS I.E. CRITICAL /MAJOR OR MINOR ALARMS / DAY /TIME OR PROCESSOR LOAD.

RM : FA RECEIVES EXTERNAL ALARMS DIRECTLY VIA THE EXCHANGE OR MDF. IT SUPPLIES DATAS TO SYPC, THE OST OF EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT. 19
