Final notice to Grade 12’s from the IB office. IB Results, EUR’s, Re-sits etc. • • • •
• • • •
IB results to North America ‐ If you are going to study in USA or Canada, you MUST update ‘family connections’ by the end of May. Getting your IB results ‐ You can access your IB results on http://results.ibo.org from 6th July 12.00 GMT. (Individual pin codes were sent to your school email in early April. Make sure you forward the email to your personal account as your school email account will probably be closed by the time results are released) Component grades ‐ Your results page will show your final summative grades from the IB, 1‐7 for IB subjects, and A‐E for Extended Essay and TOK. If you want to know your component scores for any or all subjects, please email me and I’ll send them to you. Enquiry Upon Results ‐ If you think there has been a mistake with any of your IB subject grades, you can request an EUR ‘Enquiry Upon Results’ and your exams get remarked by a senior examiner. An EUR can cause your grade to go up or down and there is a fee for this service unless it results in a grade change. If you are considering an EUR, contact me and we’ll look at your component grades to see how close you are to the next grade boundary. An EUR can take anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. Re‐sitting a subject ‐ If you need to re‐sit any IB subjects (to improve your result or to get your diploma), you will need to let me know very soon after results are posted. Re‐sit candidates will usually do their exams in the following session (Nov 09). You can re‐sit here or at any IB world school but you must be registered by 29th July Contact during the holidays ‐ If you need to contact me during the holidays, send an email to my school account (
[email protected]), or if you need to speak with me, send your phone number (including country codes) and I’ll call you. Diplomas and Certificates ‐ Your IB diplomas and certificates will arrive here in August, you can either drop by and pick them up, or we can send them to you if you email me your forwarding address. Congratulations ‐ You’ve been a fantastic group to work with, I’m proud of you all and I’m going to miss your craziness and energy. Please keep in contact! Have a great break… you deserve it.
From the Clinic: Dear Parents, I am sure that many of you are looking forward to international journeys during the summer holidays. If you are, however, worried about the possibility of contracting H1N1 influenza or any other communicable disease during your travels, please consult the websites below for information which is constantly updated. I look forward to seeing you all in school again in August – feeling healthy and refreshed after your summer break. http://www.who.int/ith/updates/2009_04_28/en/index.html http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/ Wishing you a happy vacation from your school Clinic.
From the Athletics Office: On behalf of the ATAC Department I would like to thank all students for the time and effort they have given to being a member of a school team for this year. Your desire to be involved and to represent ISM to the very best of your ability whether in local sporting or cultural events here in Manila or overseas at an IASAS event is much appreciated. We look forward to seeing everyone back in August and ready to represent ISM proudly in school year 09-10. Our first big ISM event for next year is hosting IASAS Soccer in October. This is going to be a fantastic tournament for our school community to get behind and support. We will need housing for 160 visiting athletes from the IASAS schools and I trust that the ISM community will give its full support to make this an “ISM Special Event” to remember. Good luck to all the Bearcats in the graduating class of ’09 and thank you for your efforts to support the school Athletics/Activities program during your years at ISM. To all ES/MS/HS Bearcats have a great vacation! “Remember Bearcats stay fit to stay healthy” Page 2 of 8
Cross Country 2009-2010 Be ready! Cross country! August 2009! ISM Cross Country team had a very successful year in 20082009, winning
two silver medals at IASAS, in Manila. Next
year we plan to train and race as hard and prepare for the big IASAS event in Taipei. Trainings will start first day of school for the 2009-2010 school year. If you would like to be apart of this fantastic team please contact Coach Forgie at
[email protected] or see me in the PE department. Runners must register to get the summer training program.
Important information: Trainings will run 4 afternoons a
week. The Pre IASAS team needs to be decided on within 4 weeks of school starting, attendance is compulsory to have a chance for selection for either Pre I or the IASAS team. Pre IASAS will be held in Bangkok and IASAS in Taipei. We would like to take full teams to both of these events.
ATTENTION HS GOLFERS: If you are interested in joining the ISM Golf Team for 2009-10 with a view to making the HS IASAS Golf Exchange team please send an email to
[email protected] to register your interest. The IASAS Golf Exchange will be played in Jakarta in November 2009 and I am keen to get more players join the program and tryout for one of the 6 male and 4 female positions for the team to go to Jakarta. If you are a keen HS golfer who plays golf on a regular basis, are willing to commit to 5 practice rounds to qualify for selection to next years team please get in contact with me before school year ends. Our qualifying rounds will begin early August to decide which players will be able to join the IASAS Golf Exchange Team for 2009-2010 school year. Mark Pekin ATAC Director
