P
eople, noise, traffic, smells
India has more of everything. Modern shopping centres being constructed adjacent to shanty towns, horse and cart passed on the highway by modern imported cars, new technology and business acadamies amongst the barely educated: never have I seen such localised contrasts in wealth and prosperity. On a first visit there are fresh things to experience everywhere one looks. Even in a short time in India, it is hard to keep up photographing all that is interesting. This short collection of photographs reflects the range of sights and activites that may be observed along India's busy, crowded streets.
All of these photographs were taken during the course of a trip to India in August 2008. Most were taken in the area around Delhi and Agra, although some come from the mountain town of Leh. All the photographs were taken on film, using my Zeiss Ikon rangefinder, my favourite tool for this kind of work. Martin Doonan The Hague, February 2009 First Edition
