StepMetrix™ The First Automated, Objective, Real-Time Lameness Detection System Available to Milk Producers • Permanently installed in a milking parlor return lane, StepMetrix identifies each cow as it walks over the detector and provides an analysis of soundness or lameness • Uses parallel multi-sensor force-plates to measure the force and duration of a cow’s steps to calculate a SMX Score for both left and right rear legs • Ear Tag Identification number of each cow and its SMX Scores are automatically transmitted and stored on a PC. SMX Software provides printable reports of current and historical SMX Scores for individual cows, groups of cows and the entire herd • Most dairy farm layouts will require one StepMetrix system, however some may require two systems in opposing return lanes. Kits have been provided to accommodate both applications • Kits have also been established to accommodate dairies using either BouMatic or ISO Ear Tag Identification (ISO EID)
