Stating General Objectives of Mathematics Knowledge: the student acquires knowledge of terms, concepts, definitions, principles, processes and formulae of mathematics

Understanding: the pupil develops understanding of terms, concepts, symbols, definitions, principles, processes and formulae of mathematics. Application: the student applies his knowledge and understanding of mathematics to unfamiliar situations (or new problems). Skill: to acquire skills of computation, drawing geometrical figures, tables, charts, graphs etc. Appreciation: the student appreciates the role of mathematics in daily life. Interest: the student develops interest in mathematics or to foster interest of student in mathematics Attitude: to acquire positive attitude towards mathematics. Scientific attitude: to develop scientific attitude through the study of mathematics. Lecture Method It is the method of presenting the word picture of idea or the method of imparting information through a speech. Lecture is another name of speech and when you are speaking continuously to a class or an audience. It is method of depicting everything in words. The speaker speaks and listeners listen. It is one way traffic flow of ideas; the speaker gives ideas and listener takes ideas. Procedure The teacher prepares his talk/lecture at home and pours it our in the class. The students sit silently, listen attentively and try to catch the point. Supposing “profit and loss” is the topic in hand. The teacher goes on telling and explaining” “well” girls, profit and loss is always to be calculated on the cost price, because the cost price is our investment in the bargain. If you invest less and earn more you gain; therefore gain is to be calculated by subtracting less cost price from the selling price. When you invest more and earn less, your lose, therefore, loss is to be calculated by subtracting selling price from the cost price, so on and so forth.” If the teacher is extremist in lecturing, he may not even write anything on the black board simultaneously or he may not even argue a point with the listeners by cross questioning. The method takes the form of a “One man’s show”, where the listeners remain passive.
