Process Operation Sequence Rough Turning and Facing Locating Seat Pre Boring Pre Oval turning Pin / Oil Hole Drilling Grooving Finish Oval Turning Fine Boring Fine Facing and Cavity Turning Valve Pocket Circlip Grooving

Rough Turning and Facing • Remove extra material from the casted piston come from the foundary • Rough turning tool (SPUN) - Carbide • Facing tool (BRAZE) - Carbide

Locating Seat • Create locating seat to make the piston easily holdable during other operations • Top chamfer given by tool at 45 degree • Locating seat cutting tool (carbide) • Chamfering tool (Diamond

Pre Boring • Remove extra material from pin bore dia during casting • Pre Boring coil (Carbide) • Product parameters – Bore Dia, Bore Height, Bore offset

Pre Oval Turning • Make difference between Top Diameter and Bottom Diameter of the piston • Tool – RDNX Tip (Diamond / Carbide)

Pin / Oil Hole Drilling • Oil hole is drilled b/w the ring grooves for the oil returning and Pin hole is drilled inside the boss • Product parameters – No. of Holes, Diameter of holes • Hole drill (HSS, Carbide)

Grooving Operation • Grooves are cut on piston surface called as Ring Zone • Grooving Tool (Carbide) • Product Parameters – Groove Dia, Groove Width

Finish Oval Turning • Final finish given to the check the diameters of the piston • Product Parameters – Ovality , Surface finish, Diameters • Cutting chip (Diamond)

Fine Boring • Final finishing of the bore dia • Boring Mandrel Consist of 2 Diamond tips • Product Parameters – Pin bore Dia, Bore finish

Fine Facing And Turning • Fine finishing of Piston crown and Cavity • Product parameters – Compression height, Cavity Dia and Depth • Facing and Cavity Turning Tool (Diamond)

Circlip Grooving • Circlip grooves are cut to fix the Gudgeon pin • Product parameters – Circlip width , Dia and circlip distance • Circlip Grooving Tool (Carbide)
