We have decided to set up an organization which is based on the Staff Organization type. In which a staff helps an expert get all his work done. To this end, a "chief of staff" decides whether the task is to be done or not. Our unions are of the view that this segment in the informal economy must be organized as a collective force not only to protect their legal rights but also to give the general public a

better service. For this purpose it’s essential that 3 wheeler drivers organize themselves as a collective force. It is our considered view that this organization of 3 wheelers must be done initially at a Municipal Council level. These three wheeler drivers provides means of transport to a large category of middle level income earners in Baroda and a great number of youth find employment in driving these 3 wheelers. This transport industry gives employment and means of transport to many people. We have contracts of the employment because 3 wheeler drivers pay daily rental to the owner of their 3 wheelers to obtain the hire. Our organization is known as, The Mascot Transportation Organization.

Rules and regulation of MTO for Auto rickshaw drivers: Must not indulge in zig-zag driving. Must maintain a suitable distance from the vehicles in front. Honor all the traffic signals and traffic lights and do not indulge in red lights or traffic violations. Should not indulge in overloading since it disturbs the balance and control of the driver over handles. Must not drive under the influence of drugs, alcohol, stress, tiredness or frustration since they distract the concentration of the drivers and make them prone to accidents. Should stick to their lane and change their lane only when they have to overtake or take right turn. This should be done in lane changing zone after looking behind for any incoming traffic.
