SOUND AMPLIFICATION SYSTEM

LONGITUDENAL WAVES

TRANSEVERSE WAVES WHAT IS SOUND Sound, physical phenome-non that stimulates the sense of hearing. In humans, hearing takes place whenever vibrations of frequencies from 15 hertz to about 20,000 hertz reach the inner ear. WAVE MOTION Wave Motion, in physics is a mechanism by which energy is conveyed from one place to another TYPES OF WAVES 1. LONGITUDENAL WAVES:eg. SOUND WAVES 2. TRANSEVERSE WAVES:eg. RIPPLES PRODUCED IN A ROPE

A SOUND AMPLIFICATION SYSTEM IS COMPOSED OF 1. MICROPHONE 2. AMPLIFIER 3. LOUDSPEAKER 1. MICROPHONE Microphone is a device that is used to transform sound energy into electrical energy . Microphones are important in many kinds of communications systems The American inventor Alexander Graham Bell built the first microphone . 2. AMPLIFIER The electronic energy coming from a playback unit must be brought up to an adequate level before it can be heard. A preamplifier has inputs for a cassette tape deck, a CD player, The output of the preamplifier is fed to the input of a power amplifier. This device takes the electronic energy from the preamplifier and increases the voltage or power of the energy, so the amplifier can deliver enough power at its output to drive loudspeakers. 3. LOUDSPEAKER Loudspeaker, device that converts an electrical signal into sound. A microphone converts sound into an electrical signal, which can be recorded for later playback through a loudspeaker or passed directly through an amplifier to a loudspeaker to increase the sound’s volume
